The Critic
NY Newsday reporting that Robbie Alomar has signed a 1-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. If true, I wonder if they plan to start him, or if he's simply "plan B" type of insurance in case Bo Hart ( or whoever else is a 2B candidate ) can't hack it? From Renteria/Womack to Eckstein/Alomar.....downgrade.....
MurcieOne
Yeah.... but they still have the best player in the MLB. Did anyone watch the 12:00 oclock sportscenter today? they had a story on Pujols about his work with kids with down syndrome.... he's not only class on the field... off the field he's simply a good guy. I read about that stuff during the NLCS. He has essentially adopted one kid, paying for lots of his treatments, and taking him to games and stuff. Pujols is a one of a kind guy both on and off of the field.

From Renteria/Womack to Eckstein/Alomar.....downgrade..... yeah, that is a downgrade, but if the downgrade in the field gave them the flexability to land Mulder, then it's a different story... They can always score runs, but had trouble finding a front-line pitcher... now they have one
The Critic
Pujols = class. One of his own children has the same affliction ( can't recall what it is ) as the child he "adopted", so it's obviously close to his heart. Dumbest thing I heard last baseball season that wasn't said by SS2K4: A guy I work with - Cub fan - said he wouldn't trade Kerry Wood for Albert Pujols "because Pujols is always hurt" and "he can't throw well anyway". Hadn't even considered the money aspect - I'm a Sox fan, I'm used to teams who have unlimited funds to throw at the top players in the game!!!
