SoxFan562004
Just reported on AM 1000 that the Mets and Astros are probably the only serious bidders on him... says the Cubs are out because of Sosa/payroll and they don't like to give contracts over 5 years
The Critic
Stupid move on the Cubs' part - they absolutely make enough money to take a one-year hit on having Sosa & Beltran on the payroll, and Beltran's a much safer 5-to-7 year bet than Sosa was a 4-year bet in 2001. Carlos is much younger than Sosa was then, and is still improving as a player, where Sosa was certain to decline during the contract period. Mr. Showtime
Eh. There was talk that he didn't want to play in a big city like NY, so why would he play for the crap Mets? George is only going to let him go if he doesn't want to be a Yankee, otherwise they'd sign him. Would love to see him back with the 'Stros. EvilJester99
This is more than likely the Yanks trying to drive down the asking price of Beltran...bout time someone is messing with Borass....
LosMediasBlancas
This is surprising and fishy, my source told me he was 80% leaning toward the Yanks. Why would George pull out? Just cuz they got RJ? uh uh.
HighHeat45
I heard on the score that the Yankees and Diamondbacks are close to a deal with Baltimore as the 3rd team who gets Vasquez....Now why the f*** would the Orioles help the Yankees get Beltran
SoxFan562004
If the Yankees are truly out of it, then this may be why Boras came out yesterday saying the Cubs are still in it... he doesn't want to be left with only two bidders in Mets and Astros

That's what it sounds like since Vazquez wants to be on the east coast and the West Coast was too far (his reason for not wanting to play for LA)

I agree, with all the s*** that goes into a 3-team trade I think NY and AZ are better off hammering it out between them and letting AZ fend for themselves.... They'll be able to move Javy, he's still got some value
