Overeager fans who attack umpires, referees or coaches at any level of competition will face aggravated assault charges under another new measure. The law was a response to separate attacks on an umpire and a coach during Chicago White Sox baseball games.

 

The $1 increase in the minimum wage and a crackdown on everyday cold medicines that can be used to make meth are among more than 120 new laws on Illinois' books for 2005. There are also increased restrictions on paroled sex offenders, a higher school dropout age, and a ban on lawsuits that accuse restaurants of causing obesity.
