ChWRoCk2
Figuring we do sign AJ and we do sign a second basemen, we might have one of the best benches in the leagues (decent pinch hitters). Ross Gload Carl Everett Willie Harris (if a 2nd basemen is signed) Timo Perez Davis/Burke Harris will mostly pinch run or pinch hit for squeeze bunts. Im only worried about how everett will feel, I dont know if he will like pinch hitting or not, guess he could share some time with rowand and Spod and do some DH. Perez really is of no use to us however but you may think otherwise. Davis is good to have around because he should catch for Garcia. Looking at this we should definitely have one of the top ten benches in baseball.

SuperSteve
Davis will be in the bigs for sure, as he makes $1 million. Seems people want to carry 12 pitchers and 14 field players. Cannot happen.

SoxAce
3 lefty bats, (assuming there's a new 2nd baseman) 1 right handed stick and a switch hitter isn't that bad at all to have. It also depends if were signing a platoon like player or a fulltime guy. But thats just me.

Guest JimH
whereas if we sign cora he might share with willie and i dont think hed mind being he has his dad on the team can iguchi play short? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Joey Cora is his brother, not his dad. I think someone else posted that to you a few days ago. Iguchi used to play SS in Japan but moved to 2B in 2001 due to a shoulder problem. Do not know if he can handle SS here. Chisoxfn
For the sake of my heart, I'm going to continue to tell myself the Sox are done for the offseason. I dont' want to get my hopes up for Pyrz and Iguchi and then get my heart broken, lol. Cause I must admit, I'm not looking forward to having Davis/Burke behind the plate. I think thats a horribly crappy catching core. On the other hand, we all know me, I happen to like Willie Harris, although I'm more hesitant than I used to be due to reports on his attitude. But I think Willie is a solid ballplayer. Iguchi excites me more because of his marketing potential if he comes in and is a solid ballplayer. I don't think he's going to be a star by any means. But you never know I guess.

Guest JimH
Probably a good philosophy Jason. But they'll get another infielder no matter what, it just depends who it is. I wouldn't be shocked if they bring in two, and trade a guy they have.

Well if they trade someone it would have to be Willie. I hope they don't just give him up cause I can't belive how many fans and even management seems to of written him off. The guy struggled at times, but at other times looked very good and can actually draw a walk, plus he plays gold glove defense, imo. There is no reason to think he can't become a good player. At this point I already consider him solid, especially for a 9 hole hitter. He's going to learn to steal better and once that happens some team is going to get really lucky (thats if the Sox give him up). It would be stupid for the Sox to deal him. I don't mind picking someone up, but I also think that Harris deserves a shot to get the job out of spring training. That could be the case with Cora or Iguchi to be honest. I like Cora's versatility to play both ss and 2nd. Plus he's a pretty smart ball player. In short, I just don't think infield is the hole that the catching spot is and that Pryz is a must get. But I don't expect the Sox to get him, lol, and I'm going to keep telling myself that.

Disagree, I think if Everett plays well with Frank gone then when Frank comes back and if he plays well, then the Sox have an affordable player in Everett who another team in it could want in a deal where the Sox could fill another need, potentially. GoodAsGould
yeah if everett fills in and hits good while frank is injured he is trade bait because in my opinion he 2 much money for a bench player

Who does that leave as our fourth and fifth outfielders? Timo, escobar, or borchard, me no likey. Even if it costs a little more i like having that much depth and i hope the white sox do too.
