YASNY
They need to give Iguchi what he wants ... $2.3 per for two years. Step up and offer AJ $2.3 also ... He'll take it. And one more thing KW .... offer me $300K per year as a consultant and I'll take it!
CubKilla
Cheap is how this Organization works and how it will always work as long as JR and Co. are running things. I guess the White Sox never heard of going out and actually getting the player they want. Everything has to be a negotiation. How many players have the Sox made offers to and not got do to their negotiation tactics?
SoxFan562004
QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) Cheap is how this Organization works and how it will always work as long as JR and Co. are running things. How many players have the Sox made offers to and not got do to their negotiation tactics? Good point. I'm sure the Mets don't have 100 million dollars laying around the next 6 years, but they've targated Beltran as a player they want and they think they can get better with him. Not that Iguchi and AJ are anywhere near Beltran level players, but if the White Sox think they can make them a better team, then take a risk and give them the extra money. raff
lets be fair, you cant just give players the amount they want. its negotiation. the players always aim higher than they think they will get. The sox just need to throw a little more out there, and i belive they will, just not the full amount.
Dick Allen
I think $2.3 million would be more than fair for what KW himself described as an impact player.
Guest JimH
I think $2.3 million would be more than fair for what KW himself described as an impact player. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tough to argue with that. As long as they find a way to get things done. We also need to remember this guy's agent, Richard Moss, supposedly wanted a Kat Matsui type contract of 3 years and what, $18M? And now it's supposedly down to a difference of $300K per year? So it's possible there's some gamesmanship going on here, on both sides. Typical baseball negotiations. beck72
Both players are seemingly within reach. I'd hate to see either gone [AJ esp.] over some chump change. Worse comes to worse, trade Everett and his $4 mill contract for some bats and balls and the sox will have more than enough to pay these guys, and leave some cushion for additions at the tradng deadline
ChWRoCk2
white sox have always been chepa on the market, just face it, even though its not good to over spend they just havent yet realized that you sometimes need to overspend to get the player you want, i dont see why they dont add a second year option to their contract offer they gave to iguchis agent

HoosierSox
We will see if Kenny really wants Iguchi. 300k is chump change in baseball.

DonkeyKongerko
Considering none of us have seen Iguchi play (have we?), I am going to defer to Kenny and his scouts on this one.

I was too lazy to make the other keystroke ($2.25 vs $2.3) so I just rounded up.
