SoxAce
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Look at the career numbers my friend and look where they have pitched. One has pitched in Coors Jr, the other in SAFEco Park. (emphasis on the safety for pitchers.) And yet, Buehrle has better numbers. aboz56
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Why does he not realize nearly every single pitcher has a hand full of awful starts a year. Buehrle is not any different. I would like him to compose a list of better pitchers then buehrle over the last four years. Then laugh when he realizes there are not many on the list. There will be very few qwerty, you're exactly right. I guess he is inconsistent because he's thrown more innings than anyone else in the majors the last four seasons? Give me a break. Some of you amaze me. :rolly
southsider2k5
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) Wrong again The Cell has only become Coors junior last year after the renovations. It was not Coors junior before then. And Girlie has had much better run support throughout his pitching career then Garcia, and still he has had similar win/loss over the last 4 years Garcia's run support last year in Seattle was just brutal. He was 2-8 despite being top 5 in league in ERA during his Sea stint. It really makes your arguement look juvenile when you refer to players with derogatory nicknames, IMNSHO. When you start with stuff like that, it takes away from any valid arguement you might make.
The Critic
QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Yeah, but Maggs went down like a month and a half after we traded for Garcia. When we traded for him we were contending. Yeah, sure, they're history shows nothing but folding, but if you really thought that they were done when they traded for Garcia, then I'd have to question the fact that you're a White Sox fan. I'm certainly not gonna go that far. I have no doubt that all the people on this site are good Sox fans - otherwise, they wouldn't waste their time posting here. If Aboz wants to take KW to the woodshed about Reed, that's absolutely his right. Reed is most likely gonna be a real good player for a real long time. Sure, it could fail to happen ( prime example I can think of is Joe Charbonneau for Cleveland ), but there's no real reason to believe that Reed won't excel. All I was saying is that I personally am happy with what the Sox have done, and I have nothing bad to say about or to KW right now. Get me a 2B and I'd be even happier.... Even if buehrle was pitching in a middle of the road park his numbers would be more impressive than garcia's since he pitched in the best pitchers park there is. Calling buehrle girlie is an asinine thing to say.

A question you'd probably rather hear than some of the un-intelligent, uninformed love fests that some will be performing to KW.

raff
lets not hop on the buehrle love train to fast. he will leave us within a couple years. he is going to be a St. Louis Cardinal, and i will cheer or him to take out the flubs often. i met him once, during the whole i want to be a cardinal fiasco. i asked whether he was going to stay with the sox, he said in a sarcastic way, "unless they trade me". i respected him a lot for signing the contract he did, but all it was making sure he got paid decent during arbitration years. it has payed off for us now, as he is underpayed, but you watch, he will leave, maybe even after this contract. Guest JimH
hey Jim, what do you think about the AJ signing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great move. Did not overpay and they have him under control through 2006 which gives Pierzynski incentive to behave. Perfect scenario. This guy is hard nosed and plays his ass off. Perfect #7 or #8 hitter, a threat in the lower order. They have a grand total of $3.6 or 3.7M tied up in catching including Burke. Damn good catching staff at that price. Plenty of room to bring in another IF ... or two. There is at least one more move to be made, don't be surprised if it triggers another move. And some guys will be brought in on minor league deals for depth and competition. Williams is imperfect in certain ways but no one can deny he works his ass off to make this a better team, or at least try to. Iguchi, Cora, Cairo still in play.
