People don't understand I just want to win,'' Pierzynski said. ``I'll do anything I can to help my team win the game. Rooftop Shots
Gotta love it! Haven't had an all star catcher in quite a while. Veteran catcher, Veteran pitchers! Nice combo platter!!
CWSGuy406
I posted this in the 'AJ Signs Thread', I'll post it here too. If you want to hear AJ's conference call and hear him talk about his new team, here it is: WhiteSox.com Here's to AJ having one helluva year! FlaSoxxJim
I've been one of the people torn over the prospect of signing him, not because he's not a significant upgrade as a veteran catcher with some offense to offer as well, but because of his rep and the Sox' past with him. I gotta say I like what he's saying, and I think this will end up being quite a solidifying move. Damn, two years ago if you told me that the Sox fan base would be having a big lovefest for AJ I'd have never believed it. Chisoxfn
God damn, listening to that press conference just got me giddy. This is the type of ball player I love. I love his comments talking about the Twins/White Sox series. Geeze, I'm still in shock that Pyrz is a White Sox. I'm tempted to get a jersey now, lol. I like the fact that the enemy views him as a major asshole, but it's his work ethic that I'm not so sure about. Time will tell. I'm definitely excited, though. YASNY
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Yep, I hear that. AJ getting non-tendered and then having to take a $1.25 million pay cut may have gotten his attention. He comes in here and turns out to be a royal pain in the ass, he'll cut his future earning potential by multi-million dollars.
beck72
From the call AJ seems like he knows the sox could help him probably even more than he could help the sox. AJ needs to get his career back on track, rebuild his rep and image. The Sox were the best fit for him, being in the AL Central, with a team with playoff hopes, and solid players/ professionals/ citizens. This is a no-lose situation for the sox, and us fans. The Sox should see a talented Catcher re-commit himself to being a professional. We fans should see a guy giving 110% of himself on the field. lvjeremylv
Wow. I was already very happy about the signing, but now I'm VERY happy about it. Those quotes should be printed out in size 1,000 font and hung on a banner in the White Sox locker room. It's all about winning - and like Hetfield says, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. Hopefully the loser mentality the White Sox have had in past years will be eroded. Dumping Loser Lee and Loser Ordonez was a great start. Now the guys we got need to come in and produce and hopefully we'll play as a team for a change.
AngelasDaddy0427
This is just so great for the Sox. Somewhere Ben Davis is crying...
AddisonStSox
Hats off to Kenny on a first-class signing. AJ is going to be a fan favorite in the up-coming months. This guy just wants to win. He's a hard-nosed vet AND he's a catcher. Could he be the best Sox catcher since?...well, you know who.
southsider2k5
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) This is just so great for the Sox. Somewhere Ben Davis is crying... Ben Davis still has a spot on a 40 man roster, unlike Jaime Burke... He is the real loser here.
Jake
if burke were 27 like davis, davis would be gone
Whitewashed in '05
I am very very excited that we signed AJ, before it was official I thought it would be great but now I am just very happy, I seriously can't wait to see him play on the South Side.
