CSF
Sun-Times article I won't bore you with his "rant" against the Cubs for not getting Beltran, but this little quote I found rather humorous: Hendry might counter by signing Magglio Ordonez, but even when healthy, he is no Beltran So let me get this straight. When the Sox parted ways with Magglio, Mariotti basically skewered the Sox, saying they were giving up a franchise player and one of the most coveted players in baseball, but when it's the Cubs, he's second rate to Beltran, even when healthy? Gotta love it. Somebody please give this nitwit a nickel so he can buy himself a clue. :headshake
WilliamTell
Yeah he's stupid. I do think Beltran is better, but what he says is a bunch of nonsense.
GoodAsGould
if Maggz were healthy he would be the more sure thing... More Power, better hitter... but Beltran has a lot better upside and a monster on the base paths
YASNY
Another example of why mariotti garners so much respect around here.
witesoxfan
OK, Jay, when fully healthy, Maggs is second rate to Beltran...that is a fair comment to make, especially considering the source...talk like you are God and use no stats or facts of any type whatsoever to prove your point. Here is my point Jay...you're wrong. Maggs... 2001 - .305 31 113 .914 2002 - .320 38 135 .978 2003 - .317 29 99 .926 Beltran... 2001 - .306 24 101 .876 2002 - .273 29 105 .847 2003 - .307 26 100 .911 and for s***s and giggles...let's put Beltran's 04 season up there too, since it was his best yet 2004 - .267 38 104 .915 Now Jay...just curious here...how many seasons did Maggs have while fully healthy that were better then Beltran's? Step down b****
