When the f*** did Blockbuster begin charging $8.00 for video game rentals? I haven't rented a video game from there in several months, so obviously it occured sometime during this transition period. It's unbelievable. I'm surprised never to have heard any public outrage concerning this. Sounds like Blockbuster trying to screw the consumers again.

There I am waiting in a 20 minute line with Shadow of the Colossus in my hand, when I'm shocked to notice a $7.99 rental fee on the checkout monitor. The dufus behind the counter reacted like I was crazy when I asked him, "I thought video game rentals were $5.00?" Since I only came with five I couldn't even rent the game. They just lost my business.

don't worry, all blockbusters and video rental stores will be out of business in a few years anyway. With all the new direct movies on digital cable and the netflix's of the world, they'll be gone soon.

Hollywood Video is the only way to go if your renting a game from a store. Personally I gave up renting a while ago, but I think Blockbuster just changed the price of games and its a total jip.

Agreed...mainly because of the direct movies on digital cable. My guess is 3-5 years before they have pretty much every movie you could possibly want stored on demand and all you'll have to do is pay a 3 or 4 buck fee and you are allowed to view the movie for a certain period and of course since its in demand you can pause it and all that stuff.

Thats why Blockbuster has recently added all those video game stores into there places. I think they realize they need to differentiate as well as come up with new products and fast. Otherwise they are toast.

Blockbuster's problem is constantly demeaning their customers. The "NO MORE LATE FEEs" fiasco reeked of desperation. They marketed the promotion terribly, and as a result, many were left having to pay the fee of the actual tape unless they returned the rental AND paid a $1.50 restocking penalty. Of course people will stupid enough to intepret "NO MORE LATE FEES" as "Hey, I can keep this video game for two weeks!!!"

Reminds of me how how the MPAA is battling video piracy and other forms of lost revenue. Instead of perhaps lowering prices of movie tickets, or concessions, extra commercials are included in previews. Makes sense--irritate the viewing public more.

If Blockbuster wants to compete with Netflix and OnDemand movies, they need to lower their prices. Instead of five day rentals, move it back down to three for every tape in the store. Leave five day rentals for video games. Give more people the opportunity to rent a new released video.

That's where I've been renting for the last several years. If I'm looking for a particular video or videogame Hollywood doesn't have I'll go to Blockbuster--as I did with SOTC. Besides the fair prices (which include $1 rentals for catalog titles), the selection is HUGE. I'd guess it's nearly twice as large as Blockbuster's selection. When Blockbuster removed all their VHS tapes I considered it sacreligious. Since I'm one of the few people who rent VHS tapes--mainly because they're cheaper to rent and duplicate, I enjoy Hollywood.

Um....what, the, f***?

So I'm checking out at Office Depot getting some stuff for a school project, I'm like the only one in the store. She hands me the bag and I turn to walk out. Then she goes, "Did you know.....Jesus loves you." I was like ok and proceeded to leave...

WHAT IN HELL?

I'm also going to be working for an A ball team in my hometown this summer.

Congrats on that one, I think we got a few guys from here who are doing that this summer.
