I ask the same question about $300 sunglasses, Lexuses, Designer jeans, etc. . .

Well hell.. even DKNY jeans aren't that much more expensive than good old trusty Levis... but a $400 stroller... ? And it's not even one of those with the cup holder. on the top. I can see maybe, and that's a huge Godzilla sized maybe, if it was one that also doubled as a car seat.... but it's not. It literally looks like one that you can buy at Target for $50.

The neatest thing about deer hunting is getting up into a stand at 6 AM in the middle of December. It's one of those times when you actually connect with nature.

:notworthy :notworthy :notworthy Huntiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing......YES!

Do you stand hunt?

Yessir. I'm going to Michigan on Spetmeber 24th and 25th for the youth hunt...looking to bag a velvet buck with my .270! :headbang If they haven't shed their velvet yet. Then, the week of Thanksgiving, I will be back in Michigan for 4 days. Then sometimes in December, I might go on a 3-day Muzzloloader hunt in Indiana.

I used a Remington 20 gauge the past two years, looking to get one with my new 12 this winter. My uncle owns land by a state park. We take Polaris Rangers out and drop off 8-10 people at different stands and go from there. It's illegal to take cell phones out, but we do anyways that way we can call back to the house if we get one, as I can field dress a deer if someone tells me what to do, but I'd get lost doing it myself.

20 gauge for deer? I wouldn't but if you have had success, good job. I use my dad's 12 gauge Remington 870 Express Mag with a Leupold scope...sweet gun.

That 12 is the exact one I just got, except with a B square scope, I think. I haven't actually seen it yet, it's a present from my dad and uncle.

The 20 was two for two, including a doe my first year and an 8 pt buck my second year. Seemed to do the job.

And then some.

I shot the first in the bottom of the heart and I got the second in the heart and liver. Both went less than 50 yards and I watched them fall.

Clean kills. Good for you. The deer will try not to let you suffer when they turn the tables.

Nice. Still haven't killed a buck but I got my 1st doe last year with the 7 MM. Dropped dead on it's tracks with a double lung shot.

The thing is, they don't know that I live comfortably in the city. A LONG ways away. :P

Hmmm, none of us hunt with anything other than muzzleloaders and 12s and 20s.

Why can't people ever call just to say, Hi, I had a great day. Why do they always call in the middle of some insane existential crisis?

Or at least inquire as to my day. Dammit.

Why do my friends decide to only call me when I'm extremely lonely and talk about all the friends that they hang out with that I don't know and never will?

That too.

Stupid friends.
