Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Why do students think that, "I need this class to graduate" is a compelling reason to be let into a full course? Your poor schedule planning does NOT mean that I am going to reorganize my life--or break the rules. Touchy subject for me. Scheduling problems are nothing out of the ordinary at University of Illinois-Chicago. Here, opposed to wherever you've graduated, strict fire codes have been enforced following a highly publicized downtown fire last fall. Classes which once held 25 students were cut to 20. While several professors are forgiving, most abide by the rules and offer no sympathy. UIC has unintentionally left a sizable percentage of the student population disgruntled and seeking transfers. What compounds these troubles is record enrollment. Too many students, too few classes. My frustration boiled several months ago when I was denied enrollment in every Criminal Justice class required for graduation. Unless I was willing to take a class which began at 7PM; which I'm wasn't. Luckily, a spot opened a week before the Spring semester. If I were in your position, I'd probably feel similarily towards students who can't create a simple schedule. My lineancy would be with people, such as myself, denied enrollment in subjects in which they're majoring.

The departments position is, if you want this degree, you will find a way to quit your full time job for a semester and take it because no one wants to teach this at all, especially at night. Making the people who run the dapartment a bunch of asswipes. If they agree to take on part-time students with day jobs, families, etc., that is a heck of a place to drop the ball. They did mention the local Community College offered the same course, using the same textbook, with a Dr. as professor. I think if they had their choice, they would sub all the prerequisite stuff to the Community College.

I know a lot of schools only let you apply CC/JC course hours in your first two years though, so if this is a degree requirement with several prerequisites and they had that rule it would still be hard to make it work. It's a sophomore level stats class. I went ahead and took the Senior level Research Methods class anyways and did fine, thanks to a helpful friend on the Internet who helped me with my stats computation. The Professor knew I was struggling with just that part and asked me how I managed to finish. I showed him my manual computations and my very nice looking stats package generated backup and he smiled and mentioned how he loved older students who network and do things like grownups instead of sitting paralyzed and whining

Texsox
I would like to thank my parents who allowed me the freedom to listen to all kinds of music. The inventor of the 8-track player who allowed me to listen to 2 1/2 song per track endlessly looping until a lever was hit, and most of all to google.com for finding me the answer.
