JDsDirtySox
I am really hoping to see him sign to remain with the Astros (unless he wants to sign with us), but it looks like they only have about an hour left to announce an agreement. My friend in Houston said Houston Sports Radio has been all over this all day. They really like their chances of him returning. I guess they are supposed to have a press conference tonight to make an announcement good or bad. Anyone else heard/know anything?

JDsDirtySox
Man I would be going nuts right now if I were an Astros Fan. 610AM in Houston just reported from outside of Minute Maid Park. Said the Astros will have some form of press conference at 11 pm central time. They are just waiting to hear from Boras and Beltran.

HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) let your players go where they want to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunetly, he couldn't care less where his players go and if they have a chance to min or not. All he cares about is the money. If he goes to the Mets (who seem to be the front runner), he will be playing for a bad team and in 2 years he will demand a trade (much like the A-Ros situation). He will get traded to the Yankees or Red Sox, and the rest will be history. He is better off playing in Houston. He can win with them. DBAHO
Wow I'd be pissed as an Astros fan right about now; The commissioner's office confirmed there was no agreement between the Astros and Carlos Beltran. The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Beltran will sign with the Mets. "It slipped through our fingers in the last, last few minutes," Astros owner Drayton McLane said. "It was just some sticking point. It should never, never have gotten to this." A no-trade clause? If it was just a little money coming between a deal, Astros fans should be terribly upset. It's too late now for the team to make smart upgrades with Beltran's money. They don't have many prospects to trade, and the only big free agent left that should interest them is Magglio Ordonez. Rowand44
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) Wow I'd be pissed as an Astros fan right about now; The astros are done, their whole offseason came down to Beltran signing with them, if he came back clemens was coming back but since no Carlos I'm fairly confident that Roger retires. They'll be fighting it out for 3rd place in the central with the reds now.
LDF
no one is going to tell me that carlos or i should say scott boras is finding an excuse not to sign with the astro. a NO TRADE CLAUSE. come on now. all it would have taken is a simple phone call and tell them to correct the contract language. and i am happy for hous. more teams gets screwed from scott the less teams he will have to bargin with in the future.
