AddisonStSox
Although this list will most certainly be adjusted when players declare, and again during combines, as of January 11, these are the top 16 quarterbacks as I see it. Please post all things quarterback here. 1. Matt Leinart USC- Although Matt has until January 15th to declare, if he decides to pursue his sure-fire top 10 draft selection over the pursuit of a third consecutive national title, he will be the number one quarterback in the draft. Matt has it all. The left-hander has great size at 6'5, 220, above-average arm-strength and superb accuracy. If his athleticism, leadership and win-loss record at USC isn't enough, Matt has posted single-digit interceptions each season. A winning youngster that feels comfortable in the pocket, San Francisco would be foolish to pass up the quarterback of the future. 2. Aaron Rodgers CAL- Aaron has franchise quarterback written all over him. Possessing both the ability and desire to be a leader in the NFL, Aaron can do great things. At an athletic 6'3, 220, Aaron has amazing arm strength, above-average accuracy and top-notch athletic ability. Although some question his ability to develop into a pocket-passer, no one questions his talent. Could very well challenge Leinart for the top spot come draft day. 3. Alex Smith UTAH- Alex is my sleeper. Having watched a lot of Alex with his Utes, one can not help but admire his ability and leadership. Alex, one of the smarter players in Division 1 athletics, is a complete student of the game. If Alex is able to maintain his TD:INT ratio and work-ethic in the NFL, he could be one for the ages. I really think Smith may become the best quarterback on the draft board within his first 2 years in the pros. Although he doesn't have the strongest arm, or the best accuracy, Alex gets it done. Favre-esq. 4. Charlie Frye AKRON- This is a name you will see a lot more of come draft day. Charlie, keeping the tradition of MAC quarterbacks alive, has the potential to be a front-line quarterback in the NFL. Having played his college ball at Akron, Charlie has often gone overlooked. Frye has above-average accuracy, average arm strength, but has flexed his athletic ability and knowledge of the game. 5. Dan Orlovsky UCONN- A huge, pocket-passer from UConn, Dan has the tools to merit a top five quarterback seeding. At 6'5, 226, Dan often relies on his size to overpower smaller defenders and make plays. Given the proper grooming, Dan could start in the NFL in the next 2-4 years. Still a tad rough around the edges. 6. David Greene GU- Love this kid. Prooven winner on and off the field. 7. Andrew Walter ASU 8. Kyle Orton PUR 9. Jason Campbell AUB 10. Gino Guidugli CINN 11. Adrian McPherson (AFL) 12. Stefan LeFlors LOUIS 13. Matt Jones ARK 14. Stan Hill MARSH 15. Chris Rix FSU 16. Jason White OU
jackie hayes
I don't know much about college football, but even I know about Smith and heard quite a bit when he declared. Dunno if it's fair to call him a sleeper. Gotta reach deeper for that one. <_ src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" alt=":)">

SoxFan1
White will go after Rodgers and Smith. He's in the 1 1/2 tier.

AddisonStSox
QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Whites not in the top 15 I dont know how you can think hes going to be drafted so high You are correct sir. I have White at 16 on my draft board and I have a feeling a lot of the Draft specialists have him hovering around 15 as well. White is a guy who can lead the number one team in the country, win a Heisman, and go undrafted. There are many different things to consider when looking at a professional quarterback. White has average accuracy, below average arm strength and two bum knees. Look for White to go somewhere in the fifth or sixth rounds, if at all. Confederate_48
One draft expert I saw has White at 20 even
Palehosefan
There are lots of great college QB's that just can't cut it at the next level. Guys like Ken Dorsey, Josh Hypul(sp?), Jason White, and Danny Wuerfel just don't have the arm to cut it in the NFL. Sometimes if they are in the right system at the right time, they can hang onto the NFL and occasionally prosper. But for the the most part, they are just college QB's that have to fight for backup NFL jobs or move on in life. If you surround a QB with good accuracy with the type of talent at Miami's, Oklahoma's, Florida's etc, they of course they are going to look good and prosper. But in the NFL you have to make alot of throws that you aren't forced to make in college. Like deep outs etc. Chad Pennington doesn't have a strong arm compared to NFL QB's, but he has a rocket compared to Ken Dorsey etc. Even now Chad has problems throwing limp noodles. Thats why guys like Jeff George get 10, 11, 12 chances in the NFL compared to others. Thats also why Vinny Testeverde still has a job at 41 years old. I personally think Jason White will stick on in the NFL for some odd years as a nice backup. His knees and lack of athleticism could hold him back from a starting job. Then again, I believe Ken Dorsey actually got some starts for the 49'ers this year or last, so who knows.
chisox05
Aaron Rodgers-Almost a lock at #1 until a poor showing at the holiday bowl(Ive never seen a QB throw the deep ball so well though). Could be a top NFL qb if he stays healthy and adjusts to the speed of the game. Tedford is known as a great QB producer although Akili Smith,Kyle Boller,Joey Harrington, and Trent Dilfer were his main players he devloped. Alex Smith-Hard to read because of the shotgun happy offense. Jason Campell-Sleeper pick. Could turn out to be a solid signal caller. Dan Orlovsky-Extremely overrated. Bad accuracy and not that good of arm. "Intangibles" and "leadership" which are BS IMO are why he will be drafted. (This is not my ranking just my opinons on players i know most about)

T R U
No ones gonna draft Jason White, thats my bold prediction right there... sorry, 2 bum knees and plays in a spread offense... he wont get picked up.. Adrian McPherson is the biggest sleeper in the draft and could be a HUGE steal.. Still very young, owned the Arena League, runs a 4.4 Could be a great find for a team in the 3-4 rounds
