southsider2k5
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Robbie Alomar is still looking for a job and we all know the hard on Kenny has for him Robbie Alomar signed weeks ago
Jabroni
Robbie Alomar signed weeks ago <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, he didn't. The Cardinals were rumored to be signing him but they signed Grudzielanek to play 2B instead. They may still be interested in him though. But as of right now, Alomar is still a free agent. beck72
The Sox have to have something up their sleeves, with either Iguchi or better to compete with or replace Willie. Cora would have been a decent vet to "get by" with. They seem to have their sights set higher than a guy to just 'get by'.
Texsox
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/features/freeagents Robbie is still looking for a gig. Sandy signed weeks ago. I was a little surprised, I thought he signed as well. For the right price, he could be an interesting re-signing. I wonder what our options are since technically he's "ours"

qwerty
You know what? The indians are f***ing idiots. Bellaird. Boone. Blake. Hernandez. Cora. They are all currently in their infield. Do they plan on never letting phillips or peralta get playing time? If that is the case they can just give them both to us.

CWSGuy406
QUOTE(Loaiza21 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Wilson Valdez doesn't deserve to be on this team, he's done nothing to prove he can hit up here yet so we shouldn't have him as backup option #1 for any reason. Spend the money to get Iguchi in here! How so? Valdez has had less than 50 ML AB's. How can you judge him on that? He can play defense, and Ozzie likes him a lot. If no one else is brought in, I bet you see Valdez platooning with Harris against LHP's...
AstralSox
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) I agree. I just don't think Cora is a good fit for this club. We'd be replacing Willie Harris with a slow Willie Harris. EXACTLY!! Thank you.
3E8
On Rotoworld now: According to the Orange County Register, free agent Alex Cora will sign with the Indians. No other sources are confirming the agreement. If this is true, then GM Mark Shapiro has completely abandoned his plans to go young at some key spots. Cora likely would start at shortstop over Jhonny Peralta. Jan. 13 - 2:31 pm et
JoshPR
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) "Cleveland Indians Updated:01/13/2005 Alex Cora, the Dodgers' regular second baseman for the past two years, has agreed in principle to play for the Indians, reports the Orange County Register. Cora, 29, who wasn't tended a contract by Los Angeles, likely will play shortstop for Cleveland at least during the first year of his two-year deal, the newspaper said." Options continue to slim down... That is from CBSSportsline.com if you are curious. Thank You GOD!!!! Cora Sucks
GreatScott82
The following players are still available via free agency. SHORTSTOPS: Rich Aurilia Deivi Cruz Barry Larkin Cody Ransom SECOND BASE: Roberto Alomar (LOL) Ricky Gutierrez Rey Sanchez Enrique Wilson Nobody on that list is appealing to me. If KW can't bring Iguchi here he might as well pursue a trade. Hell if that Durham thing is true i say go for it.

GoodAsGould
how can you all be down on Valdez and we really havent seen him play... im fine with him as a bench player... Uribe, Crede, Willie are all young guys they be playing almost all of the season we be cozy. Although a Barry Larkin signing would interest me. beck72
KW has to have something up his sleeve with a trade. The middle IF was the first priority [in Vizquel], and now the sox will go with an inexperienced middle?! I don't buy it. Someone will be brought in
JUGGERNAUT
Bummer. I wanted Cora because he could spell both Uribe & Harris at a reasonable price. Now the only guy worth considering on that list is Larkin. He still has some baseball left in the tank. If nothing else it take CLE out of the running for Iguchi. Our biggest competition might be coming from teams like HOU. Teams willing to spend more than others because of the hole they find themselves in.
