Mr. Thomas is the only guy on this team going to the Hall of Fame.

You are right about that, but the question was not "who on the White Sox has had the best career".

That said, when Frank is healthy, he's the most important player we have. His mere presence in the lineup changes our look completely, and is still fully capable of putting up MVP numbers.

Now, aside from a healthy Frank, I'd say you would have to go with Aaron Rowand as our best overall player. That's really just based off a solid 2004 season, but he was good before then, just didn't get the playing time.

I don't know how to compare position players to pitchers, but pitching-wise, I'd say MB and FG are a toss-up. Both have very solid career numbers, but MB has done it in a hitters' ballpark, so maybe the edge goes to him. But it's very close.

now i understand we all are happy about Rowand and everything but some of you got some insanely high expectations for him.

he was like 6 homers shy of thirty...and 13 stolen bases shy of thirty...i think he can muster those up for 2005 season...its very possible...like Pauly has went from hitting 21 homers to 40 like last season...i don't think it's a high expectation....Now 40-40 is a high expectation

I'll pick 2. Best all around player in the lineup would have to be Aaron Rowand, and even that's a risk because he's only produced for 1 season, after starting out slow for the 1st 2 months. Best pitcher would have to be Mark Buerhle, Garcia has got to go back to his early 2004 form with the Mariners before he can begin to challenge Mark for the #1 spot in the rotation in my mind.

First ballot Hall of Famer, Frank Thomas.

This time next season, if one of Thomas' options is picked up, I may be inclined to agree with you. But the Big Hurt has shown in his career that he doesn't hit well when coming back from a major injury, and I don't really see any reason to change from that perspective. Hopefully he'll suprise us though, with the launching pad at the Cell and still put up a good OBP at least.

You know, I really that was due to the nature of the injury. He tore his tricep, and I believe that effected his swing that whole season after he returned from the injury.
