AJ knees the trainer in the groin

It was a bad decision by AJ, but he's obviously a tough SOB to begin with.

It's not a bad idea to have a guy like that on the team. But again I point more to a lack of discipline w the SFG than to AJ.

Why didn't any one retaliate? Why didn't the mgr say something?

If you create an undisciplined an environment then anarchy creeps in.

It's not just AJ. We've heard & read a lot of stories in SFG the past few yrs. They have a problem & they need to clean it up.

The situation with the CWS is completely different with Ozzie. He is the biggest SOB. We saw this with his handling of Garland & we read about it in his comments in the press. He's not afraid to get into some one's face or is he afraid to lay down the law when it comes to conduct.

If something like this where to happen in the CWS, Oz would be the first to bust AJ in the chops. It's not going to happen.

From Southtown:

It was last July when Minnesota Twins outfielder Torii Hunter went out of his way to level Sox catcher Jamie Burke at home plate, a play some considered to be a turning point for both teams.

If a similar scenario plays out this summer, expect new Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski to hold his ground, even if the ex-Twin considers Hunter to be a friend off the field.

"Hopefully, Torii will slide," Pierzynski said. "That's all I have to say. After the game, we'll probably have a beer together, but on the field, I won't be his friend. Torii feels the same way. He plays the game hard."

Pierzynski denied the Sox could use some of the grit that's been the trademark of Twins teams in recent years.

"The Sox have it already," Pierzynski said. "It comes down to whether we can pitch the ball and catch it. If we can do that, we'll be fine. This team has a chance to be very good."

Could be another case of some writer sensationalizing what really happened. It's sounds like everybody over there on that team in SF...for some reason really didn't like the guy...and would take any chance to "sensationalize" some thing that gets all blown out of proportion. Maybe he really didn't even do it or just tried to fake it and went a little too far....and ya know how butt hurt people in San Francisco get....LITERALLY!!!!!

Not sure that his career is on the line.  Just like w/ Jimenez, jerks w/ talent find jobs.

Edit:  I was wrong saying he'd make more than $3 mil, he's making $2.9 next season.

Yes, and he earned every penny of that $2.9M, IMO.

For those who don't know, last year D'Angelo hit .270 for the Reds with 12 HR, 67 RBI, and had an OBP of .364. That's pretty impressive.

He also had just 7 errors at 2B, and he pretty much played every game (146 to be exact).

Solid.

But, yes, if he had some kind of attitude problem that was detrimental to the team, we're much better off without him.

I believe if AJ pulled something like that, JR would suspend him, or he'd be moved from the organization before he finished his post game shower. As for Jiminez, we all knew he had some talent but he was dumber than a box of rocks on the ballfield.
