5. AL Central

Baseball's worst division may have gotten worse. No team in the AL Central did anything to make them even close to a World Series contender. The Twins, who lost their third baseman (Corey Koskie) and shortstop (Cristian Guzman), and Royals, losers of 104 games in '04, haven't made a notable addition. The White Sox have been the most active team but aren't necessarily improved. The additions of Jermaine Dye and A.J. Pierzynski won't make up for the loss of Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Lee, and the trade with the Brewers that brought Scott Podsednik and relief pitcher Luis Vizcaino for Lee was barely even. The Tigers talked big at the offseason's outset but have only Troy Percival to show for this winter. The Indians' single big signing? Kevin Millwood to a steep one-year, $7 million deal. In a winter in which Russ Ortiz gets four years and $33 million, this acquisition might seem defensible, but compare Millwood's signing to the Red Sox's one-year, $1.5 million deal for Wade Miller, and it suddenly isn't. Early prediction: The Indians still take this division by at least three games.

The guy who wrote this is a tool. The quote about the 2005 AL Cy Young just reeks lunacy.

Personally I am tired of all of these predictions and what not.

I hope every damn publication picks against the White Sox, since we lost the mighty Magglio "I've never won a damn thing in my career" Ordonez and Carlos "I never make an error because I never take a chance" Lee. Wow, these guys really won us a lot.

I'd rather have some hard nosed players like AJ, Pods and Dye who don't do any posturing or admiring their homeruns, unlike the Mighty Maggs and El Caballo.

Let everyone pick against us.

That way when we have a great year all of the naysayers will look like complete fools.

Just look at the damn Bulls, everyone starts talking about em, including Dan Patrick calling them better than the T-Wolves on ESPN, and they lose to the f***ing Celtics. Let's hope noone pays any attention to the Soxl

That's not why the Bulls lost. The media should have no effect on how the team plays.

I couldn't agree more.

Players should keep their heads out of newspapers and should focus on the game...period.

I agree it souldn't have an affect but I think the talk of playoffs and crap that Skiles has been trying to hide from them has now caught up with them, it's in their heads. Plus Ben Gordon played like 2 f***en minutes in the 4th, what is that, COME ON!

This guy called the Lee trade "barely even".  I guess KW should have held out for "hugely even".  "Barely even" is a disgrace!  :rolly

Of course he's going to say that. What he doesn't know or probably didn't take the time to actually research :finger, was the trade allowed us to sign A.J Pierzynski and Orlando Hernandez, filling the 2 most important holes on this team.

I'd be absolutely shocked if the Indians break .500.

I'm probably one of the people here who think that Indians will challenge again. For me it depends on the production they'll get our of their 4th and 5th starters though. Lee, Elarton or the Japanese Porn Star, need to have good season for the Tribe to get over .500, which I still think is very possible with their young offense.
