gotoh00
I have seen Iguchi play first hand for the past 6 years. He's a solid player with gap power, speed, and fielding skills. Has a problem with stikeouts but he should adjust well to the Majors. Funny thing is is that he look more like he's Latin than Japanese. Don't be surprised of his eyebrows when you finally see them. gotoh00
Thanks guys. I moved to Japan from Chicago about 10 years ago so I watch a lot of baseball over there. There's also a rumor the White Sox will sign third baseman Nakamura who had some trouble with the mets 2 years ago. His swing is a hella of a lot wilder than Iguchi's but we'll just have to see. gotoh00
I have videp tapes of him playing...but not the equipment to convert them. Just think of a shorter puggy Derek Jeter.

By the way, welcome to Soxtalk! Are more people hearing about the White Sox in Japan due to this and the Takatsu signing?

By the way, welcome to Soxtalk! Are more people hearing about the White Sox in Japan due to this and the Takatsu signing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The White Sox were interested in Norihiro Nakamura last month but I guess he has a big ego and thinks he deserves a ton of money. Here's the article... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...s_cws&fext=.jsp Here is the latest news on Nakamura... http://www.japaneseballplayers.com/en/player.php?id=nakamura I guess Nakamura's Japanese team (Kintetsu Buffaloes) hasn't posted him yet. He needs to be posted, or released from his contract with his Japanese team, before he can sign with a MLB team. And it wouldn't be worth it to a MLB team because the Kintetsu Buffaloes would likely overbid any MLB team for Nakamura's services.
quickman
QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) For a better look at Iguchi go to http://www.tadahito-iguchi.com can he bunt and hit to the rightside? !!!!
GoodAsGould
i dont think we will sign him this offseason but if Crede sucks again maybe next year as a stopgap until Fields is ready. I read about that 3B from Japan b4 he wants more money than Iguchi did at first.
gotoh00
He hit in the 3,4, and 5 holes with the Hawks so he wasn't asked to bunt very often. He can hit line drives to all fields but only homeruns to left.
Chisoxfn
Hey Welcome aboard and thanks for this info. Its great getting info from people who have seen him. I have modest expectations of him, but I do think he'll come and be fundementally sound and hopefully adjust to the fastball like I recall a major league pitcher saying he'll need to do if he will suceed at the majors. I think it was Ray King who said this, but not positive.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) i dont think we will sign him this offseason but if Crede sucks again maybe next year as a stopgap until Fields is ready. I read about that 3B from Japan b4 he wants more money than Iguchi did at first. I dont' think he'd be signed to be a starter, rather as a backup plan if things dont' work out well. How much money is this guy looking for? I'm guessing he wouldn't be looking for big bucks and would have to settle for fighting for a potential backup spot? Or can he actually play all infield positions, specifically 3rd/SS/2nd? If he could then I definately see why they would bring the other guy in. GoodAsGould
from what i remember the 3B guy from Japan isnt that great in my opinion and his defense isnt the greatest at third so i doubt he can play multiple positions.

Then again, since the Cards were one of the names mentioned w/ Iguchi, it might just be spin.
