ottawa_sox
Seems like an unfortunate time to become available through the posting system, as MLB teams have been scrambling for 3 months to assemble rosters. Many of them, like the Sox, have a budget and have maxed out.
JUGGERNAUT
3 reasons: 1) Crede is not in any one's dog house. They are actually fond of him. 2) The Sox have no more $ to spend on a bidding process. They are certainly not going to tie up more $ in this guy than Iggy & that's usually what these bidding processes lead to. 3) The Sox only have 1 move left: trade Harris for an upgrade in the pen or an upgrade at UIF. Teams have a higher value of Harris than we do because of his speed.
JoshPR
I read that Fields could be looked at as a Firstbaseman
qwerty
QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) He'd be too expensive of a backup. Who knows how much money a team will have to pay just to talk to him. And I'd imagine he probably wants upwards of $6 million + per year. He would be insane to ask that much after the last two years he had.
Whitewashed in '05
QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Maybe it is just me, but I would like more than 6 people on the team who can speak fluent english. Thats kind of an asshole thing to say, I think most of us care about winning more.

YASNY
The Dodgers are considering placing a bid for third baseman Norihiro Nakamura, who has been posted by his Japanese team. His addition would make Jose Valentin one expensive utilityman. The 31-year-old Nakamura, who has been one of Japan's best players for several years, nearly joined the Mets two years ago. Any team signing him would probably do so with the intention of playing him regularly. He's not going to come cheap, leaving open the possibility that he'll remain in Japan. kdhargo
Nakamura might be too sought after. I think a better fit for the Sox would be names that aren't appearing in rumors and such - someone along the lines of Kazuhiro Wada. Also, Kenji Johjima would look nice backing up Pierzynski. Couldn't be any worse than Ben Davis... In case anyone wonders who the hell I'm talking about... Kazuhiro Wada, THIRD BASE .320/.425/.607, 21 2B, 1 3B, 30 HR, 89 RBIs, 71BB/59K, 1.000 FLD% Kenji Johjima, CATCHER .338/.432/.655, 25 2B, 1 3B, 36 HR, 91 RBIs, 49BB/45K, .996 FLD%

YASNY
I read somewhere that KW said he could have gotten him cheaper than Iguchi. He the "posting" would not have been a problem. I thought that was interesting and actually, a good subject for debate. Nakamura replacing Crede vs. Igiuchi replacing Harris

No, i saw nothing about the dodgers in your post originally. But i did see this. Just some food for thought. I'm not even sure how much money Nakamura is looking for but he would be a nice backup incase Crede busts again in 2005. You can find someone in the states that will most likely put up similar numbers for a fraction of the cost. Which is the reason i said '' how about no''?
