Former White Sox Pitcher Bart Johnson will sign autographs at Au Sports on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. All autographs are $5.00 each and $4.00 for CSAC members with a valid I.D. card.7

 

The strikeout leader of the Midwest League in 1969 with 200 whiffs, Bart was 20-2 as a prep star, where he was all Southern California infielder and pitcher.His American Legion record was 23-2 and he hurled his team to Legion State Title in 1967. He threw two complete games for the White Sox in 1970. He saved a number of games out of the bullpen in 1971. Bart also played some outfield in the minors, where he hit .329 in 50 games at Appleton with six homers, 25 RBI And 20 runs scored. Bart pitched eight complete games and had a 10-4 mark in 1974 with a sparkling 2.74 ERA. Bart was drafted by the White Sox as a No. 1 pick in June 1968. In 1976 Bart completed eight games. Bart is currently a scout for the American League Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Bart Johnson was the first sports autograph I ever got as a kid. He was the speaker at one of my little league banquets. I remember that I also got a pretty cool White Sox transistor radio that night for selling x-number of raffle tickets.

 

That was like 600 years ago, of course.
