They get ragged on, as if it was the player's suggestion to put that much pressure on him. Pods better be have his game tight too. The whole new offensive scheme relies heavily on him.

I just hope we lives up to the hype. Just ask Jon Garland and Willie Harris what happens when you don't live up to Sox fans expectations right away. Hopefully he has some thick skin.

2 yrs/5 mil isn't a lot of jack. Well, it is to me, but not in the grand scheme of MLB things. If he doesn't work out, we have a decent platoon 2b and possibly SS. Plus, someone out there would take him in a trade if it gets to that. So, I'm not worried at all.

Exactly

I hope Willie out performs Iguchi in Spring Training and shuts some people up

I followed the link on that press release to order my nine game plans (a big deal for me). I wanted to let the timing of my purchase to match the Iguchi signing to show my approval. Thank you KW and JR for a fine offseason. Now let the countdown to opening day begin. I've never been to opening day before. :headbang

Yes, we shall.  I would only want to see us trade Willie if we got a good utility infielder that can play SS or a lefty reliever.  I don't see any reason to trade him for a minor leaguer, unless it's a really good minor leaguer.

Our bullpen is pretty much set

And Iguchi is a ? so keeping Willie would be best for us, especially since he can beat him out in SP

We could use another good lefty reliever. We only have two lefties that will make the opening day roster -- Cotts and Marte. And I don't have much confidence in Cotts. If Willie could also play SS, I would be all for keeping him.
