southsider2k5
Wow, I gotta say I am surprised. He went from 5th starter to possibly AAA and off of the 40 man roster. I wonder if anyone will claim him?
Guest JimH
My guess is they're hoping he clears and then they'll bring him to camp as a non roster invitee. They like this guy, they think now that he's completely over the arm injury he'll contribute.
LosMediasBlancas
Yeah, not too long ago Ozzie mentioned him possibly being the 5th starter. How long til stories about his 'bad attitude', or 'poor work ethic' come out? QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) He Gawn...designated for assignment. thedoctor
surprising. i thought they might keep him around as insurance.
witesoxfan
(pats self on back) I called this almost immediately after the Iguchi signing, when everyone thought it was going to be Harris traded. They don't like Harris, but they aren't(or shouldn't) trade him until they know for certain the Iguchi can hang around and play well. EDIT: shouldn't say everyone...but people were speculating that. LosMediasBlancas
Harris might still get the pole, that pat might be premature. There are many things that can happen during spring training. Lots of scouts, many playing days. Harris will probably make it to spring training and the Sox will be very happy to put him in many games, but I do not think he is long for the team. greasywheels121
He's probably the smart move. However, I wouldn't be mad to see him back in the organization.

WilliamTell
That's surprsing. And with Harris, they shoulda never traded Singleton to get him.

Not quite my kid, being 17 and single and all that good stuff. Also...I don't doubt Harris will be moved. But they have to have some insurance in case Iguchi cant hang...which is why Harris will stick around for now. I could see a scenario where he is traded in ST, much like the Timo trade last year. JUGGERNAUT
Why keep Grili on the 40 man? He had no chance to make the 25 man. There was no way Harris was going to be dropped from the 40 man. Despite what many of you might think Harris is too valuable a talent to simply give away. So they need at least ST to evaluate whether Iggy is a boom or a bust or something in between. AngelasDaddy0427
It's about time. Lets face facts here. Diaz out pitched him in AAA. Diaz had better starts at the major league level. He is nothing but AAA roster fodder. At least Diaz has potential as a solid pen arm. I would be really shocked if anyone claimed him. GoodAsGould
grilli was a good prospect once but had surgery, maybe after another year his arm will get better. Although it didnt look like it Grilli had probably a bigger upside than diaz although what we saw certaintly wasnt better than diaz.

Although it didnt look like it Grilli had probably a bigger upside than diaz although what we saw certaintly wasnt better than diaz. I think Diaz was better than Grilli. Just because Grilli probably had more wins doesnt mean anything. Atleast Diaz got us a win when we needed it in the scrub series and some solid relief, but the only reason Grilli won was because of the offensive outbursts we had when he was on the mound. GoodAsGould
i said grilli had a higher upside but maybe after that surgery he just doesnt have it who knows. All i know is i didnt enjoy watching him so now only got to get rid of Borchard
