qwerty
The MLBPA today gave its approval to the Sammy Sosa deal, allowing him to alter his contract. A clause was voided in the contract that would guarantee Sosa's salary for 2006 and add an option for 2007 if he was traded. The Orioles will owe Sosa $5 million for this year and a $4.5 million buyout if his $18 million option for 2006 isn't exercised. The Cubs will pay $12 million of Sosa's $17 million salary this year and also owe him $3.5 million in severance pay.
