Texsox
It's obvious that Maggs lost his gamble after turning down the Sox' last offer of $60mil for 5 years. I was wondering if he would have won *if* he stayed healthy, and *if* he had another 30/.300/100 season. Beltran got $119 for 7 Beltre signed for $64 million for 5 I have to believe a healthy Maggs would have slipped in between these two in salary and would have done better than the 60/5 last offer. EvilJester99
Certainly he would have gotten that kind of money..esp. if he still switched to Boras. Mags would have gotten a boat load of money. I am wondering if Maggs isn't kicking himself for not taking the Sox offer now.

I would be shocked if every GM in baseball doesn't have a photo of Maggs on his desk and when some player turnsd down the team's last offer and decided to play out his contract, the GM turns the picture to face the player and says "Good Luck". Bwahahahahaha
Yossarian
I'm curious to see if he can still play. I still think it's crazy to sign him to a long term deal at this point. Boras doesn't impress me as being particularly intelligent, but he is smooth, cunning and persistent. He jerked Tom Hicks' chains real good on the ARod deal. I bet Ordonez is hoping he'll do the same for him.

WilliamTell
Yeah, he shoulda took the Sox offer. I guess we're not the cheap ones now since we offered him a great offer.

CanOfCorn
Let's wait and see what the Tigers really offered him before we say he won or lost. Cuz, if he gets close to the 5/$70 that the Sox offered, I guess he won anyway. As for winning or losing, I wonder what the arb number would've been? YASNY
When Maggs is kicking himself ... is kicking with the bad leg, or standing on it and using the oher one?
witesoxfan
Maggs isn't kicking himself at all. Rumors already have him getting $11 mill over 5 years ON a bum knee. Had he stayed healthy, put up a .300 30 100 .900 season, he would be looking at $14-15 mill a year, and if he had put up a .320 35 120 .950 season, he would be looking at $16-17 mill a year. Boras is an asshole...but he gets the job done.

If it was a one year deal, and another great season, somewhere around $16 to $18. I'm guessing Boras and a healthy Maggs could have pulled in a 6 year $90mil deal. I was just wondering what the sides would've offered and what he would've gotten. I imagine he would have gotten what he asked for. If healthy, of course.
