Serious questions for Hockey fans, do you really want the season to start?  Won't the playoffs start like 2 1/2 months later?  What's the point?  Would this year's Stanley Cup winner be as meaningful as the previous champions?

i just want the nhl to remain in existence. the sooner they reach a deal the better. if that means we play a couple month season than so be it. and no, in my eyes the champs won't be as meaningful as past champs, unless it's the hawks or ducks of course... :D

Considering how long the playoffs are I think I'd be just as meaningful. Nobody really came down on New Jersey when they won the shortened season Stanley Cup last time. Having said that if a team like the Leafs won the cup after all the history between them, I think people would use the shortened season against them.

I realize the season would be short and almost meaningless (though the playoffs would still be the same), i still want an NHL season. I think A season is much, much better than no season at all. I think a cancelation would find more people not watching hockey when it does come back. Plus, if we have a season this year, that means there will be a season next year for sure. Right now there is a good chance there is no season (or a shortened one) next year if something doesn't get hammered out within the next few hours.

Sure, it's not the same season...but i will take what i can get at this point. I don't want this to be the first season canceled in the four major sports' history.

blackhawks could actually stand a shot if the season started up, not many games and all they need is a couple wins :rolly

Personally, what I want is a resolution that lasts for a long time, so us hockey fans never have to endure this long of a time without hockey, ever again.

Whether that takes twelve hours of talking tomorrow, or whether it takes five more months -- just get a deal in place that is sound, and one that won't break down when a new CBA is to be put in place years later.

As far as us hockey fans, specifically the small contingent of Blackhawk fans that are here -- I think that this is such damper to us because finally, this organization was actually going in the right direction.

I know that's hard to fathom, even for the casual hockey fan, but it's true. Finally, rather than kid theirselves, kid the city, that they could squeak into the eighth spot in the playoffs and get their asses kicked in the first round, they sold off all the vets, got some good value for them, and started from scratch. I don't agree with what Wirtz has done for however long he's owned the team, but finally, we have a good core of young players -- on the team, in the system -- that we can actually build a team around. It's dissappoinging to think this might throw a wrench into the rebuilding plans.

Keith, while i agree with some of what you said and i agree we are heading in the right direction, this could be a lot worse if the Blackhawks were actually good. We weren't going to win the cup this year. Could you imagine if we had a team that was a legit contender, and we just wasted a year of that window because there was no season? After not winning the Cup since 61? We wouldn't know what to do with ourselves.

You know, I always kind of thought in the back of my mind that these people couldn't be stupid enough to flush an entire season down the s***ter, but it now appears inevitable that it's going to happen.

They waited HOW LONG to even start talking, and now they're having too-little, too-late BS conversations in FEBRUARY?

IMO, all this is doing is trying to set ground rules for the late-summer talks, or attempting to prove an impasse for the courts. This is NOT about trying to hammer out a fair deal for both sides, or getting players back on the ice.

This absolutely blows. The stupidity is astounding.

I wish I didn't care, that I didn't miss NHL hockey as much as I do. It would make it easier to make fun of everyone involved in this mess.

I'd be stunned if Friday's talks amounted to anything at all.
