TheBlackSox8
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) I don't mind seeing the Sox under the radar one bit. I think it's better for the Sox not to be on anyones minds for the AL central title. I think it would be a sweeter victory for them to own the competition in the eyes of all those that didn't pick them this year.

toasty
Ozzie has said that the person that didnt go out and play hard like torrii that day after the collision was moved out of the organization. (CLee) guess oz didnt like lee's style.
SleepyWhiteSox
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) I guess you could say that's a good thing. We always were the first ones to say something. It seemed like the thing that worked for the Twins in the past was that they didn't worry about us. If Torii wants them worry about us this year, fine by me. First one to say something loses? It's been the case before, so I hope the trend continues and the Sox come out on top this time... JoshPR
QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) A good way to get Hunter, other than beating his team of course, would be to drill him right in the ribs. Next time, in the back. Next time, below the waist. Etc. If you yap to the press about wanting to take another player "out", you're fair game. Problem is our pitchers are pussies and wouldn't drill my 88 yr old granny

BridgeportHeather
Torii's nothing short of a PUD, and I hope Buehrle drills him in the noggin April 8th!!!

Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) I don't care who drills him aslong as it's done. No, it must be done appropriately. Added emphasis on velocity. Who throws the hardest on our team? Cliff Politte, right? With a comfortable lead, and hopefully a light workload preceeding his entrace, Politte MUST drill Hunter in his ribs. While it would be labeled a cheap move by many, Buehrle simply throws too softly. I'd be scared asking the same of Garland/Hernandez/Garcia/Contreras; all of which could implode following a free pass. Politte should enforce justice our first series with Minnesota. GoodAsGould
maybe we can bring back Billy Koch back and he can throw one of those 100mph fastballs at him.... oh wait i forgot he lost his velocity in Chicago

CSF
Anyone forgetting Buerhle? In 2003, after Mientkiewicz made those comments about the Sox not deserving the ASG, promptly got knocked down by MB in their 1st meeting. Or how about Garland getting ejected for throwing at a Twins player in retaliation for one of them hitting Frank? Except for Mike Jackson, I think the pitchers will back their guys up. Wanne
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Mike Jackson Pussed out the first game back.. Its over and done with IMO.. The Sox had a chance to make a statement.. and instead laid down. That pretty much sums it up! I wouldn't say it's done with though...not when Hunter starts throwin his nads around like that. I think it's gonna get nasty this year with them....CAN'T WAIT!

Garland was responsible for plunking Mientkiwicz following his ASG comments. April 26, 2003 Great game summary. upnorthsox
Tom Gordon followed Garland and allowed a hit over 2 1/3 scoreless innings but closer Billy Koch surrendered a two-run homer to Mike Cuddyer in the ninth. Yep our problem was too many HR's.

FWIW, if Hermanson was on this team last year, I bet you he definitely would've plunked Hunter. I dunno how good Hermanson is, but everything I've heard about his attitude is thumbs up. Both played for the Giants last year and probably know each other's tendencies. It will be interesting to see what the two of them add to this club this year. Punch and Judy Garland
We really lack that veteran guy that will put somebody on their back. Remember Matt Morris in the game after Jimmy Edmonds got hit in the ribs by Zambrano? We need to see more of that.

Punch and Judy Garland
really? I don't think so at all. Do you really think Cliff Politte is tough enough to do that. no way.

Do you really think Cliff Politte is tough enough to do that. no way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In my opinion, any White Sox pitcher from 2004 who wouldn't be willing to dust someone off would not be in the plans for 2005. Not sure why someone would think Cliff Politte isn't tough enough, did I miss something he did or didn't do?
