RibbieRubarb
I respect Roger Ebert alot. Unlike other critics you cannot label him a film snob. He will give 4 stars to an independant art house movie and then give another 4 stars to a hollywood action flick. Hell, Spiderman 2 was his #4 best film of 2004. His website is a treasure trove to his great essays and reviews. That's where I stumbled upon this report of his reviews from the late 60s and early 70s when he ventured to the Adult Cinemas to review to new X-Rated films that were being released. Yes, young readers...Porn films were once released in the Theatres. Now sure, some of his reviews covered then X-rated fare like "Midnight Cowboy" and "Last Tango in Paris"...tame now. But he did review hardcore porn like "Deep Throat", "Behind The Green Door" and "The Devil in Miss Jones" Great report, but the review are extremely entertaining. The Critic
He definitely has a hard-on for that Indian chick, I forget her name. Called her "the first and second most beautiful woman in the world"....while I think she's very beautiful, I wouldn't go that far. Ebert does seem to give better ratings to s***ty films if there's nudity - it's like he starts with a 2-star rating - one star for each titty. AngelasDaddy0427
I know this is going to sound tacky but i've never seen a Porn movie. Heck I never intend to see a porn movie. IMO I just see no point to them. I'd rather expend my energy on something useful. What a waste of time to of had to sit through the awful things and review them. Rex Kickass
Porno movies used to attempt a story.... because they were in theaters and needed to fill time. It wasn't until they brought in video that they became jackoffontits movies. Roger Ebert cowrote an X rated film, "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls." Its so bad that its so good. 3E8
"Deep Throat" stands as the most profitable film of all time. Did over $600 million gross.

My guess is that he is overcompensating to keep up appearances. I'm fairly certain Ebert is of the non-het'ro persuasion.

Taking into account his marraige, his best friend was Russ Meyer, his desire to write porn films earlier in his career that feature large-busted babes...yeah I see how you could see that. :headshake :headshake

Neither of those were X-Rated..... they were rated NC-17. There's a difference.

He seems to genuinely love the VAHHH-HEEEE-NAHHHHH!!!!
