ChWRoCk2
QUOTE(T R U @ Feb 17, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Gore was supposed to be the starter ahead of McGahee AND Portis, thats how good he was looked at... but he has terrible knees, thats the problem that doesnt matter, everyone thought that mcgahee was going to be a bust in the nfl and look at him now hes amazing and he is starting for the bills, id take the risk on frank gore, but preferably would want mclendon or claurett

If you have poor knees, any run could be your last for the year. Willis McGahee doesn't have bad knees...he suffered a very severe knee injury, but that does not mean he has bad knees. When I think bad knees, I think Jamal Anderson after his 1998 season. He had like 1 good year after that in his career.
witesoxfan
Haven't seen a new first round mock in a while from anyone, so I'll throw one out there, though it is probably pretty mediocre 1. 49ers - Aaron Rodgers, QB, Cal 2. Dolphins - Cedric Benson, RB, Texas 3. Browns - Alex Smith, QB, Utah 4. Bears - Mike Williams, WR, USC 5. Buccaneers - Cadillac Williams, RB, Auburn 6. Titans - Alex Barron, OT, FSU 7. Vikings - Derrick Johnson, OLB, Texas 8. Cardinals - Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami(FL) 9. Redskins - Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan 10. Lions - Erasmus Jones, DE, Wisconsin 11. Cowboys - Travis Johnson, DT, FSU 12. Chargers - Marcus Spears, DE, LSU 13. Texans - Jammal Brown, OT, OU 14. Panthers - Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn 15. Chiefs - Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn 16. Saints - Thomas Davis, S/OLB, Georgia 17. Bengals - Antaaj Hawthorne, Wisconsin, DT 18. Vikings - Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina 19. Rams - Pac Man Jones, CB, West Virginia 20. Cowboys - Shawne Merriman, DE/OLB, Maryland 21. Jaguars - Dan Cody, DE, OU 22. Ravens - Mark Clayton, WR, OU 23. Seahawks - Channing Crowder, ILB, Florida 24. Packers - David Pollack, DE, Georgia 25. Broncos - Shaun Cody, DT, USC 26. Jets - Heath Miller, TE, Virginia 27. Falcons - Brodney Pool, S, OU 28. Chargers - Khalif Barnes, OT, Washington 29. Colts - Justin Miller, CB, Clemson 30. Steelers - Adam Terry, OT, SU 31. Eagles - Mike Patterson, DT, USC 32. Patriots - David Baas, OG, Michigan Some are more far fetched then others, but that stuff is not as easy as it looks I truly do not see Ronnie Brown falling that far, not for a guy who may have the best all around tools at RB in the draft...however, with Zona apparently picking up Henry, I just didn't see where else Brown could go, and I think if Brown made it to Carolina at 14, they would take him simply as a value pick, because he is a steal at 14. There are other questionable ones, but for the most part, I think it is decent. Thoughts?
ChWRoCk2
not bad but i bet the dolphins wont pick a rb if they get edge. and the bears should go after a rb or lb with number four after getting muhammad, and being a packers fan i doubt they will pick a de w/all the db troubles, but not bad

A lot of experts anticipate the Packers selecting a DE with the first-round pick, namely Cody from USC.

There are other questionable ones, but for the most part, I think it is decent. Thoughts? Ok Wite I'm going to nitpick. 1 - Are the Browns really going to take Smith at #3? It will probably depend on the Kelly Holcomb negotiations for me, although we could have a carbon copy of Cincinatti from 2 seasons ago, where Jon Kitna started and Palmer sat on the bench. 2 - Mike Williams at #4. I know he seems to be the popular pick around here especially with Bears fans, but after his 40 times, I just can't see Angelo reaching for him, especially after they signed Muhammed to a big deal. 3 - I don't think the Titans will reach for Barron at #6. He's not even projected to be a top 15 pick on a lot of draft boards right now. Most likely, they'll take the best CB available at #6 whether it's Rolle or Jones. 4 - Derrick Johnson at #7. The Vikings already have a lot of money invested in their LB corps with Harris and Henderson, and they can bring back Claiborne as well. Most likely, they'll take Williams or Edwards at #7 as Daunte needs somebody he can throw the ball to, so Kelly Campbell and Nate Burlison can continue to keep having single coverage, although you do have them taking Williamson at #18. 5 - Rolle at #8. This is Denny Green we're talkin about here. Even though it looks like they are going to trade Starks, this is such a CB heavy draft, the smart move would be to take one in round 2 or 3, and take the best offensive player on the board right here. If one of the RB's slips down in Benson, Williams or Brown, it's most likely they'll take him. 6 - Johnson at #11. With the Cowboys signing Jason Ferguson, a big DT suddenly isn't the most important need right now for the Cowboys on defense, a pass rush is. I love the selection of Merriman at #20, although I don't know if he'll slip that far, the Cowboys may have to take him with their 1st pick. Best case scenario, we pick DJ at #11 and Merriman at #20. If one of the WR's slips, I wouldn't be suprised to see Jones and Parcells make that selection, especially if it happens to be Mike Williams. witesoxfan
LOL, yeah, I shoulda waited till after the combine. No way Williams goes at 4 anymore...I actually see the Bears taking Benson, although it is the wrong move, or I see them trading down with perhaps San Diego, and who they take where I am not sure...at this point, I think that would be the smarter move. I also see Brown at 2, Mike Williams at 7, I see Brown falling, I see Barnes rising, I see Williamson going earlier then 18, I see Pac Man higher then 19, I see Barron falling...I think now that the combines are over, a better mock draft could be made. I will say that I do definately see the Johnson remaining a top 10 pick, and that he is a talent that a team would trade up to get if they wanted him badly enough, and while I am not sure what direction Cleveland is going to be going in, I think that could be a place where a team could trade up to, because I'm not sure there is a good enough pick for Cleveland at 3, and so I could most definately see them trading down, and Johnson remaining a top 5 pick overall. Also, I do see a good chance of Chicago trading down...I'm just not sure they are going to like what they see at 4 enough to pick it up. I most definately could see a trade down with San Diego so they can pickup Braylon there, and Chicago can either hope that Benson falls(because I really only see Tampa Bay and Arizona as potential suitors for RB, and if Arizona is going to trade for a RB, be it Bennett or Henry, that would take them out of the picture, giving Chicago a clear shot at Benson at 12...and if Benson doesnt make it to 12, they can take Williamson, Barnes, Barron...there are still a lot of doors open to them). JMO, but I would look for that.
