Why? You think the NHL is run well? Then I think you are the moron. It took a "cancellation" of a season to get their asses in gear. That's very sad.

I was referring to the "You f***ers deserve s***" comment, that I took as you saying to us hockey fans... Were you meaning it towards NHL management/players or something...?

The NHL. That's why I started the sentence with f*** the NHL,

You guys shouldn't have gotten your hopes up. These 2 sides hate each other too much. This is non-news at this point. Hell, I thought the cancellation was non-news. This has seemed obvious when the sides seemed to be far apart and barely negotiating.

Exactly right. I didn't even blink when they said there was a potential deal.

I was pretty shocked when I heard Gretzky and Mario were getting involved. I heard this yesterday morning before it hit the wires.

And the person I was talking to said if they can't get it done, no one can. That's why there was some optimism there going in to last night.

But I'll tell you, there is no doubt after today that the union is BUSTED. Call the replacement players in the fall, because that's the only way there's going to be hockey next year.

I am not a hockey fan, but this will probably be what is best for the game in the long run. The owners have to be sure not to give in now, like the baseball owners did in 1995.

Losing the 1994 WS was a total waste because the owners caved in and nothing got fixed. The NHL would be smart to learn from baseball's mistake and make sure they follow through. I don't see the NHL player's union holding together like the MLB players did, however.

I laughed out loud this morning when I heard the report of the "agreement in principle".

There's no way these two groups of dumbs***s can agree on anything.

I'd have been absolutely shocked if these morons could have done a deal to UN-CANCEL ( what a stupid term, by the way....revive would have been better semantics ) the season.

The NHL and NHLPA deserve the international embarrassment they've caused for the sport.

While i agree with you Rex, and as an avid hockey fan i agree a lot of things need to be fixed and this can actually be "good" for the game, the problem is that non-hockey to casual hockey fans just see this as "greedy owners and players" canceling a season. It's not going to help get any more revenue, which is what the NHL needs badly right now. So initially this could be brutal, but in the long run, if they fix it correctly, hopefully it turns out well, and i can look back and not be as pissed off at a canceled season as i am right now.

the NHL does not have the fanbase that the MLB did when it went on strike.  Look at how the MLB suffered after the strike, and with the trouble the NHL is already in, this ISN"T going to help the game.

Interest in Hockey was already falling and now the owners will be lucky to fill half their arenas if and when the game starts back up. Frankly I don't really care either. I can get my hockey fix watching the Wolves. Much more entertaining to watch and far cheaper as well.
