Jabroni
http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-doug20.html ON THE MOVE: After saying this offseason that he was leaning toward keeping Aaron Rowand in center field this season, Guillen now seems prepared to move Rowand to left and have Scott Podsednik play center, his natural position. "When you play center and you play like Aaron, you have a good chance of getting hurt,'' Guillen said. "Every time you dive for the ball or go to the wall, I don't want him missing any playing time.''
Rex Hudler
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-doug20.html They haven't even played a ST game yet and Ozzie has already made up his mind? Ozzie just likes to chirp. Unless Pods is much better than Rowand in CF, and from what I have heard he is not, then it would be stupid to waste Rowand's arm in LF. TLAK
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) They haven't even played a ST game yet and Ozzie has already made up his mind? Ozzie just likes to chirp. Unless Pods is much better than Rowand in CF, and from what I have heard he is not, then it would be stupid to waste Rowand's arm in LF. His reasoning is Aaron is less likly to kill himself in left than in center. I don't know if I buy that, the walls in left are just as hard as in center and when you count the foul lines, there are more of them. I watched some Brewers on MLB TV to get a look at Podsednik, he doesn't get a jump like Rowand but he is mighty fast, he can really run down a ball. It might come down to whether Podsednik can handle left because his speed won't cover up his mistakes like in center.

Maybe Ozzie is different, but I think I'd want someone who was willing to run through a wall for me playing CF. But maybe Rowand getting hurt is a concern. How much time did he spend on the DL last year from running into walls?
WHarris1
Me thinks putting Rowand in LF is very dumb. But I think he'll be in center to start the year, we haven't even played a damn ST game. Edited February 20, 2005 by WHarris1
Rowand44
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) Me thinks putting Rowand in RF is very dumb. But I think he'll be in center to start the year, we haven't even played a damn ST game. Well, considering the one spot we know Aaron isn't playing is rf, I agree with you, that would be dumb

AngelasDaddy0427
Rowand should be in CF. End of story. Best case scenario wouldn't even see that flukey one year wonder Pods even making the team. If it wasn't for those stolen bases he would be nothing but a 6th outfielder/defensive replacment. Pods was a scrub in the minors and is almost what 30, over 30? Then again I don't think Willie is ready to be a leadoff hitter either. Texsox
We have a manager who loves to talk. This may have been something he contemplated for .01 second when some reporter asked what about Pods in center. Until he has penciled in a few lineups the last 2 weeks of spring training, I think this is just for s***s and grins and to keep spring training fresh for the hitters. IMHO ST is too damn long. witesoxfan
Um...? 2004 stats... Podsednik - .244 .313 .677 Harris - .262 .343 .665 I know Podsednik had 51 more SB's then Willie...but without using SB's(because some do question their actual value), Willie's 2004 was better then Podsednik's. I like Podsednik more...just throwing some stats out there.
