Eddy Curry Rumor

According to Mitch Lawrence of the NY Daily News;

The Bulls appear to have a bright future, but they are already hearing rumblings that could affect how far this team can go. It's not just Ben Gordon and Luol Deng who have been frustrated by their inconsistent playing time. Word is that big man Eddy Curry doesn't want to re-up with the Bulls as long as they're bringing back caoch Scott Skiles next season. It might not be set in stone, but Curry is definitely thinking about it.

skiles is the best coach the bulls have had since phil and he done wonderful things with this team, i think this is a fight eddy cant win!

He is not the type of guy to take the team to the next level however. He wears thin on guys, it gets old. The Bulls will have to keep this core of players instead of Skiles.

You can't trust any New York reporter, for all we know it's a ploy so that Isiah can get Curry next year in FA, like Crawford. It doesn't matter what Eddy wants anyways, the Bulls hold his rights because he is restricted. Eddy is happy in Chicago, if Eddy actually did want out, Sam Smith would have been all over it, too.

curry should kiss skiles feet, going into his f-agent years he has finally become a consistent threat on offense, where before signing him was a gamble, now if a team signs him, they get a sure 18 pts a night with potential for him to have 25 pts a night in the future.

In the last year or so, NY papers have been reporting a lot of BS, not just sports stuff too. I dont trust them very much. THey just want to sell papers in NY, not report the news.

that report is a bunch of bulls*** ive seen eddy talk live a number of times and all he ever does is praise skiles so i think its just taking that rumor that leaked out at the begining of the year with eddy's agent.

i don't know about the first part but think the second is right on. just think it's the regurgitated (sp?) rumor from the beginning of the year. and if i remember right he and his agents did some backpeddling to vehemently deny it.

ATTENTION Curry Bashers:

1Before you rip curry a new AHOLE make sure this rumor has credibility.

2 If this was Tyson you all would have given him the benefit of the doubt.

(I love both Tyson and eddy equally, but some of you need to lay off of Eddy)

3 Never trust New York. ( funny how they always seem to had Curry going to the Knicks the last 3 years, Now we're winning and he wants to leave?) I dont buy it.

Eddy saids he wants to stay here.

After nearly four days of lounging on beaches in Mexico, Eddy Curry found himself back in the spotlight's glare Monday.

That's not a place where Curry feels comfortable, but he wanted to respond to reports from All-Star weekend that he won't want to re-sign with the Bulls because of coach Scott Skiles.

"That's ridiculous," Curry said. "I like Skiles. I want to come back regardless. I'd like to think coach Skiles and I have a good relationship. At this point, I don't see myself wanting to go anywhere else and having to start over with feeling a coach out and him feeling me out and getting used to a whole different system.

"Definitely, at this point, I really want to come back. I just hope everything goes well over the summer and they're able to do it."

Like most NBA players, Curry has privately grumbled about his playing time. He also has occasionally voiced displeasure about Skiles. But this isn't the first time Curry has stated his desire to keep playing in his hometown, and it won't be his last.

Barring an unforeseen and ridiculous offer benefiting the Bulls, Curry won't be dealt by Thursday's 2 p.m. trade deadline, according to multiple team and league sources.

That means Curry will be reiterating similar feelings this summer, when he's a restricted free agent and the Bulls have the right to match all offers for him.

Given how many assets the Bulls have lost for nothing in recent seasons—Jay Williams, Marcus Fizer, Eddie Robinson—it's possible general manager John Paxson will make a pre-emptive strike with a large and substantial offer early in the negotiating process, thus thwarting other teams' bids to sign Curry.

If that's the case, count Curry in.

"The way we were able to grow this year, I hope we can stick together, grow together and see how much better we can do with another summer of work and another summer of coming together," he said.

Curry is happiest when attention is elsewhere. That doesn't mean he doesn't want the spoils of success—the "max" contract, the five cars in the driveway—but if he can avoid the spotlight while achieving those, all the better.

Miami center Shaquille O'Neal, whom the Bulls face Tuesday night, has long supported Curry. He did so again over All-Star weekend, saying, "People put too much pressure on [Curry], trying to put him in a category that he's not in. They want him to be dominant and be mean and talk trash."

Curry, who is as mean as a puppy, appreciated O'Neal's words.

"It's flattering because he knows me and respects my game," Curry said. "It's always good to see that you have somebody of his caliber behind you and wishing you the best.

"I always look forward to going against Shaq. He's the best big man in the game. Anytime you match yourself against him, you can really measure how far you have to go and how far you've come since your last meeting."

If that's the case, Curry must progress much more. On Feb. 5 in Miami, he looked so spooked against O'Neal that Skiles played rookie center Jared Reiner for long stretches.

This is such a BS report. Ya my ass, Gordon seems content as does Deng. I'm sure they'd like more minutes (Gordon especially) but part of the NBA is getting good enough on both ends of the court to get starters minutes.

Right now I think Skiles does a good job of keeping everyone in the rotation happy.
