Illinois State Baseball

Recommended Posts

Heather, I was just looking at ISU Baseball's website and noticed they started this weekend. So far they have split with Stetson down in FL. Stetson is a pretty solid program.

I also noticed that they will play 18 games on the road before ever playing at home. That has to suck! They are in Nashville next weekend. I may head up there to catch a game or two and hang out with coaches Brownlee.

With the weather down here right now I wouldn't want to play any home games.  I'm looking forward to going to a few games this year before summer break.  I wan't to see if we have a decent squad this year.

I played at Illinois State in 1987 or 1988 in the fall. We played back to back triple headers on a Saturday and a Sunday and the thermostat never got above 40 degrees. It was freakin miserable.

I'm pretty sure it's quite normal for northern colleges to play that many away from home before being at home.  I go to U of I in Champaign, and our first home game is game #17, with the first ones all being in tournaments down south.

I know it is different, but Evansville opens at home every year the third weekend in February and they are only about 4 hours or so south of Normal. This year they played three games on the road before opening against UIC at home this weekend. I just figured schools in that area could open sooner than 17-18 games in.

Funny as it is, its been pouring down here and Fullerton has been getting rained out left and right. They got only part of one game in this weekend against USC (Southern Cal) and were losing in the 8th and for some reason instead of it being a win, the rest of the game will be finished at a later date.

Evansville, like I mentioned before, is a quality baseball school.

But it never rains in Southern California?
