Kalapse
QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) What happened to The 1st rounder,Jason Dallareo? I remember there was supposed to be the big SS battle between he and Caruso to see was going to be the future there. Was he even a Septemeber call-up? He started pitching because he sucked ass at short.
YASNY
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) He started pitching because he sucked ass at short. More accurately, he sucked in the batter's box.
beck72
QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Sort of related, I expect the Sox to draft a shortstop fairly high this year. Wouldn't surprise me at all. Go for the SS, Uribe could always move over to 2B if the pick worked out. I could see the sox going for a good glove, good OBP guy with speed who can make solid contact. The sox draft a SS #1 and he might be ready by the time Uribe's contract is up in case Juan tests Free agency

Weaver or Drew could still be very well on the board @#15.

Weaver or Drew could still be very well on the board @#15. If the sox don't pick a SS with their #1 then definitely in their top 3. I agree going with the best available for the #1 spot. You can't overlook talent just to fill a need. But with their pitching set from last yr, and the OF in good shape, the sox focus should be on the IF [which means 1B, SS or 2B, as Josh Fields fills 3B]. Yet getting a top SS could fill basically 2 spots for the Sox. If the pick pans out, it would give the sox options at 2b and SS, as Uribe can move over to 2b.
