NFL 2005-2006

Recommended Posts

Since the combine, free agency, and the draft are coming out, I began thinking about next year's Super Bowl sleepers.

Jacksonville: They have a great young coach and a great defense, but no WR's and Leftwich is way overrated; he pretty much sucks.

Carolina: Had a lot of injuries last season, but still played pretty good in a terrible NFC. If they cut Mushin Muhammad, it hurts their chances. (P.S. Kris Jenkins is retiring I think)

Cincinnati: A great coach in Marvin Lewis, as well as an emerging star in Carson Palmer. If they could keep Rudi Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh as well as improve their run-defense through the draft and free agency, they could be contenders.

New Orleans: They really emerged at the end of last season. They need Aaron Brooks to be more consistent and McCalister to stay healthy. I think a dominant LB could really help them.

Buffalo: They were a contender, but turning to a rookie QB could hurt them severly, especially with a poor O-Line. Their defense will have to carry them to the Super Bowl.

Arizona: if Denny Green can provide Josh McCown with abetter O-Line and a good RB (either Marcel Shipp or through draft), they could be contenders. Need to improve defense through FA.

Detroit: They have a young improving defense, as well as Rogers, Williams, and Jones; but they have no QB, simple as that.

What do you guys think?

well let me say this nicely no way in hell Detroit or Arizona go to the Super Bowl both are a year or 2 away from being serious playoff contenders. otherwise.

Jacksonville: they can be consired super bowl sleepers and Leftwich is awesome and they have 2 rookie WR's that showed flashes last year and still have Jimmy Smith who is awesome.

Carolina: word has it they are keeping muhsin muhamed but are cutting or trading Stephen Davis. And no way Jenkins is retiring he will be fine next year they are super Bowl contenders

Cinci: they are a team that can make the playoffs but in the AFC thats all they will do for the time being at least. Also already used the franchise tag on Rudi Johnson i dont think they will bring back Houshmandezeh

New Orleans: great pick i think ended season strong have the pieces to make a run just need to be more consistent.

Buffalo: They were a contender if Bledsoe staying but now that they are going to the future in Losman their at least 1 year away from the playoffs most likely let alone Super Bowl

already stated Detroit and Arizona have no chance in hell but wont be pushovers which is a start and arent far off from being playoff contenders. But Dennis Green needs 1 more year in Arizona and Detroit needs a defense.

i agree with the following

Arizona- weak division could be the favorites to win it, so why not

New Orleans- i also liked the way they finished this year, dont expect the super bowl but wild card is very reachable

jacksonville- should have made the playoffs this year should only get better next year

i disagree with the rest

cinncinati- i just dont see them making the playoffs next year i expect more of what weve seen the last 2 years a mediocre team at 8-8 or 9-7 could sneak into the playoffs but i doubt it

buffalo- looked good at the end of the year, but i am not sold on losman he hasnt played at all in the nfl, and the bills are not as good as the steelers all around

detroit- harrington sucks, and i just dont see this team making the playoffs, unless they get garcia then they might have a shot

carolina- one year wonder, sure they had injuries this year, but without muhammed no chance

how is Carolina a 1 year wonder.... they went to the superbowl a couple years ago and than last year they were 1 game from making the playoffs even though their Pro Bowl DT was injured, 1st and 2nd string RB's, best WR and kick returner, and there was more injuries.

on a side note if the bears have a good off-season and Mike Brown and Rex Grossman stay healthy they could be a playoff team.

my ideal offseason would be signing TJ Houshmandez and that tackle from the Bills to shore up our OL. Than in the draft get Derrick Johnson and than in 2nd round a WR and 4th like Maurice Clarrett or something. That way assuming Rex is healthy our offense should be passable and our already great defense becomes that much better with the addition of Johnson.

I know people want Mike Williams or Edwards but just imagine a defense with

Mike Brown, Charles Tillman, Briggs, Urlacher, Derrick Johnson, Alex Brown, Tommie Harris, and Ogunleye. That defense would be one of the best in the league also it would crush the run like we did our last playoff run. Only difference is with Green, Brown, Tillman, and Azumah/Vasher/RW we have an aamzing secondary

i just dont think their going to be that good this year, i think they overachieved two years ago, and beat crappy teams last, they did not beat a single team with a winning record last year

I think the Bills are a playoff team next year...but I don't view them anywhere close to a Superbowl team.

If they make the superbowl, I will eat something pretty crazy.

I think with a rookie QB you won't have to eat anything that isn't sane
