Rumor has it the hawks will cut payton and he will resign with the celtics.

Kinda strange how Payton was on 1 team his whole career then in 2 years, he's been on the Bucks, Lakers, Celtics, and now Hawks, wheather he plays with them or not.

I wish the Bulls would do something constructive trade-wise to compete.

They have a great shot to do damage in the playoffs this year.

Trade for a few quality guys with decent sized contracts in a deal that involves moving Antonio Davis' contract...or something.

Boozer, Giricek and Utah's #1 for Davis and Curry. :huh

Dead line is over i believe. That offer you proposed the jazz would laugh at. Hard.

Anyways, the knicks did something right. They have three drafts picks next year. Even though they will most likely just cut them all. :bang

A summary of my thoughts;

WINNERS:

San Antonio - Getting Nazr Mohammed for only a 1st round pick, that'll be in the 25-29 range and the long term deal of Malik Rose was a great move. Even though it could hurt their chemistry, Mohammed when he plays at his best (even though he is inconsistent) is an upgrade over Nesterovic.

Golden State - A week ago it didn't look like they were going to be able trade Dale Davis's expiring contract and they would have just kept him and gotten the cap space. Now they trade him along with Speedy Clayton for a top 5 PG in this league easily when healthy. They're still stuck with some horrible long - term deals (Foyle and Fisher), but at least they've got some hope now. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Mike Dunleavy this off-season.

Atlanta - Losing Walker in the short term will hurt no doubt, but frankly who cares. They should be losing games to get as many ping pong balls as possible, and trading Walker will alow Childress, Smith and Harrington all to start, which they need to do. Bogut or Chris Paul will probably be wearing a Hawks uniform in 2006. There have been rumors of Harrington being shopped though.

Philly - Chris Webber is the perfect big man to pair with Allen Iverson. He won't clog the inside, and Iverson can drive inside and dish to him outside the free throw line, so C-Webb can hit jumpers. Short - term the 76'ers look dangerous. If Samuel Dalembert can start playing to his best in the playoffs, this is one team I really wouldn't want to face.

WAIT AND SEE:

Sacramento - Losing Webber hurts no doubt, but it's too early to judge. Geoff Petrie isn't a dumb ass (he stole Cuttino Mobley from us). Peja will probably get back to his best with no Webber around, and this will help their chances of re-signing him instead of Peja bolting to the Lakers when his deal is up.

New Orleans - Probably an early loser for now, although Baron has hardly played this season, so it's not like they'll miss him on that regard. $22 million of salaries will come off the books for Davis and the Big Dog Glenn Robinson alone. The Hornets have to sign a major free agent this off-season (probably can't be a guard, a SF or PF most likely, or maybe Ilgauskas if they want to move Magliore to PF) to make this deal work.

LOSERS:

New York - Isiah Thomas must seriously be on very thin ice right about now. You do not trade contracts that expire sooner, for heavier contracts that expire 2 or 3 years afterwards for pretty much the same players going either way, for some draft picks that are going to be in the early 20's at best. I don't get the Mohammed for Rose trade at all, they've already got a little bigger version of Rose in Kurt Thomas. Taking on Mo Taylor could stunt Mike Sweetney's growth in the long - term if they play him as well.

Boston - Doc Rivers, your locker room bickering just up about 95%. Ricky Davis can't be happy about this. Tell me this, how are they going to find shots for players not named Paul Pierce or Antoine Walker. Jim O'Brien almost made it work, but quit trying. Unless they can get Gary Payton back (he could be headed to Minny or Seattle), the Celtics are going to get owned at the PG position in the playoffs. Rivers is a great motivator, but I don't think he's a good enough X's and O's coach to make this work.

Excellent analysis.

The Hawks are gonna have some major cap space in addition to a Top 3 pick next year to go along with Harrington, Smith, and Childress. They're finally back on the right path after like 20 years.

Someone tell this dumbass that Jiri Welsch also got traded, and Ricky was coming off of the bench to begin with.

Also, I'm glad Antoine's back, and if it's only short-term that's OK too because his contract (14.6 mill) expires after this year. This isn't a year that Boston is going to make a run at a title anyway. If Payton doesn't re-sign, then Banks and West get to show what they can do. I'm not a huge fan of Ainge, but this could turn out a lot better than people think.

I didn't know it was possible for anyone to like walker. :huh

Ricky Davis gets 31.4 minutes per game on average. Welsch received about 20 minutes per game. I could see why DBAHO would think that Davis won't be happy with Walker on board.

There's so many things I could say, but I'll leave it at...

I'll take career stats of 20-9-4 per game any day.

Well, I'd like to hear all of these things.

I don't come across too many positive reviews of Antoine Walker. Most of them are similar to this one:

Antoine Walker will be like a pig in feces this season.  Walker was very unhappy with his playing time in Dallas, but now he's on a Hawks team with so little experience that he'll be able to do whatever he wants.  Look for Walker to put up big numbers, especially in field goal atempts.  The fact that he's in a contract year will only entice him to pad his stats even more.

Say what you have to say. No one is stopping you.

Has anything ever been said about him that he is a good team player? Is he a good player to buil around? Is he a ball hog? Can he make free throws? His shooting percentage is what a point guard shoots at which means he has a bad shot selection. Does he play defense? He might as well stop taking threes unless if you like him making only 32% this year and 33% in his career rounding up. Does he play defense? Is he overpayed? All the answers to those questions are not positive ones i will tell you that.

Oh whoops I didn't mean to call DBAH0 a dumbass, I thought he got it from some other site.  Anyway this isn't a big deal as far as Ricky is concerned.  Antoine can play either the 3 or the 4.

:lolhitting

About the 4....

Ain't that strictly Raef and Big Al? I can't see Walker getting any minutes there. Also, Davis can't take any minutes away from Pierce or Allen.

Toine will play more than Al. Raef can play center on occasion (Blount sucks). Davis continues to come off the bench at the 3. No big problems.

Haha, whatever you want to believe. You can ask anyone on any board and they will tell you either tell you something similar to the quote hammer had or what i said.

You may find this hard to believe, but this place isn't the be-all, end-all. Especially considering that 0 of the people here have seen Toine play 1/10 as much as I have.

Now go find something from your bible (aka rotoworld) to say otherwise.
