Konerko Showing Real Class

Just as important, Konerko feels good about wearing a White Sox uniform. That's why he's more than willing to return to the South Side after his contract expires at the end of the season.

"In my mind, at this point, I don't question my teammates,'' Konerko said. "I love all my teammates. I love Chicago. I have no problem staying here. I think when you get to your free-agent year, some guys, yes, they want to make the big money. But they're also questioning, do they like it where they're at? So that forces them to maybe go and explore other things.

"Well, I can answer now and say I want to be here, and I have no problem with any of the stuff surrounding me. That question is answered. So if something comes across the table earlier, I have no problem signing it. I have no other issues to deal with.''

KENNY, TAKE NOTE OF THIS!!!

I didn't think Paulie would ever amount to what he has for us, becoming "the man" in this organization back in his early years with us, but I'm sure glad he has proved me wrong. He is the type of player ALL ballplayers should model. Willing to take less to be loyal to his team, always taking one for the team, being a great leader, and comes through when he's needed.

Paulie, yaw the greatest!!!

nice attitude and all but isnt worth  prob 8-12 million he will get in a contract.  horrible 2003 year and look at his road splits in 2004...... unless he hits consistently good on both road and home i have to say HE GAWN next year.

Paul Konerko was one of the main reasons this team was able to muster the offense they DID last season without Frank and Maggs. His 41 HRs and 117 RBIs were more than I ever thought he'd produce for this ballclub. Just imagine the added RBIs he could get with Iggy and Podsednik hitting in front of him...

Why will he get more rbi oppurtunities with podsednik and and an unproven hitter in the united states hitting in front of him?

I know MJK said Konerko is a dick. Let the soxtalk campaign to discredit begin

Whoever would say that absolutely hasn't a clue that Konerko's one of the most fan-friendly, team-friendly players Chicago has seen in a while, or wishes to tarnish his image.

I am fine giving him 8 mil a year, but not anything more.

If he wants more, move Fields to 1B, keep our pitching in tact and watch the young offense grow with guys like Anderson and Sweeney waiting in the wings.

I think right now our "cornerstone" pieces are Buehrle and Rowand.

The only problem I have with that scenario is what if Crede sucks it up again this season, and you lose both of them. Fields will have to stay at 3B in that scenario, unless we can sign a FA 1B / DH or 3B.

Oh... they have a clue.. and they are right. Remember Heather.. they are commenting on the Paul they know.. not the Paul that kisses babies on kids day. Paul is a prick.. as long as he does his job he can be the biggest one since Jordan when the camera's left the room. ;)

We were near the top of the league in fewest opportunities with RISP. Its not to big of a stretch to think that the Sox will improve there.

because a majority of his big hits are done with the bases empty. 41 hr's should merit more than 117 rbi's. We need some table setters

Fields will stay at 3B, I think Rogowski is going to be a stud, so I think they are grooming him to take over for Paul, then insert anderson, sweeney, BMAC, and we just developed our team from within, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All we should ask for as fans is that a guy give 100% and not be a jerk in public. I'm not as warm and fuzzie about this article as others. He's happy, if he wasn't, he might be behaving differently, just like if some former Sox players had been happy, they might have behaved differently too. :huh

"Every year somebody says (the Twins) aren't as good as they were last year, and they keep walking away with the championship,'' Konerko said. "Until somebody knocks them off, they're the favorites. That's the way it is.''

That's the best quote of the article. I'm all for keeping PK for years to come, maybe even as DH if *gasp* Big Frank doesn't come back.
