EvilJester99
The Giants and Bears are the two front-runners to sign Jay Fiedler. The Giants have been very aggressive in wanting Fiedler to be Eli Manning's backup. Chicago reportedly wants to see how the Kelly Holcomb situation plays out. TheBigHurt35
Glad to see they're going after a legitimate veteran backup, but I'd rather have Holcomb than Fiedler. Jay's just never healthy anymore.
WilliamTell
Going after Fiedler kinda surprises me. But he would be a great back up quarterback. I felt sorry for him down in Miami, he won down there, just not enough I guess.
Punch and Judy Garland
I think Holcombe will start in Cleveland. Jay would be a very solid number 2. We'll find out how bad NY wants him.
SoxFan1
Personally, I'd rather get Holcolm. He was great when Cleveland was winning 2 years ago when Couch went down. Didn't they make the playoffs that year?
Chisoxfn
Good, but its gonna be tough. I heard a few different NFL experts talking and they were indicating that Fielder has been getting tons of calls and is gonna be a hot name in the backup/starter type area. Would be a hell of a pickup by the Bears. Also heard mention of the Bears and Holcomb if something happens there. They want someone that is capable of coming in if Grossman flops and then they are obviously gonna also work on developing Hutchinson, but a legit backup is needed. DBAHO
Kelly's pretty much a lock to head back to Cleveland anyways, even if they draft a QB which is doubtful.

Reports are that him and the Browns are pretty heated right now in terms of negotiations. The next week will give a better answer, imo. Either way, Kelly knows his best chance to start in the NFL is with Cleveland, although I think they might seriously make a run at trading for Chris Simms of Tampa Bay now, especially if the Bucs sign Jeff Garcia. Punch and Judy Garland
Fiedler is a bit like timmy rattay, a great backup but a fringe starter. Still, it's good to have that type of guy.
TheBigHurt35
Brad Johnson is now a free agent. He wouldn't be a bad choice either.
Be Good
Dam I read in the NY newspaPers today that the Jets and Giants want him too. And the Dolphins said that he has no trade value.

And the Dolphins said that he has no trade value. Not at the contract he was on, plus there a few veteran QB's out there who are probably a little more talented than him. He's a great backup but he's never going to be a starter. The problem is for Chicago, whoever the QB is, he ain't going to be protected very well unless Angelo makes some serious upgrades in that area. Dick Allen
I was in South Florida when the Dolphins released him. They were doing cartwheels like most Sox fans were when Royce Clayton was sent packing. The fans and media didn't think much of his skills. Though to be fair, it is hard to replace the greatest QB of all time. I just got sick of both Jay and Dave and were delighted to see them go. Oh.. and hello to everyone. First post here. Longtime Sox fan. Also love Bulls, Dolphins and UNC basketball. Cheers. Edited March 4, 2005 by MastaFisk

Sounds good! What can I say.. born in Florida, grew up in ZIon, Waukeegan, Florida and NC. Mom couldn't decide where the hell to live. Thanks for the welcomes, guys. It was great to find this ChiSox forum. Back on topic... (sorry to hijack thread) I would avoid Fiedler like the plague. Kurt would be a better choice IMHO.
