CubsSuck1
Going into bottom of the 9th... Arnie Munoz in to pitch. Carlos Quinton walks on four pitches. Man on 1st, no outs. Matt Qaeda walks. 2 on, no outs. Sergio Santos bunts to advance the runners. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Corey Myers intentionally walked. Bases loaded, 1 out. Marlon Williams lines to right center, Quinton scores. Sox lose 4-3.
danman31
Munoz's current ST ERA is 27.00. He is so brutal it's unbelievable.

They need to pitch better this spring or Ozzie will not have any faith in them. Hope the Korean kid signs and he can learn how to throw a strike. WHarris1
I think all the bunting can be chalked up to Oz trying ot get guys to practice getting bunts down in game situations.

I think and hope you are right. I do think Ozzie is way too in love with bunting, though. Scoring 3 or 4 runs a game doesn't win you much anymore. Gene Honda Civic
I hate game threads, but I had to read to see what happened.. Yesterday's media coverage was poor. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Do we have a backup infielder in Ozuna? I've liked him for a while good thing we have him. This was my favorite quote. I LOLed and got some little pieces of partially chewed pretzels on my comp screen.

southsider2k5
QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) He was awful. Our best bunter was timo and that is not saying much at all. I was thinking maybe even Valentin, but he bunted so rarely it was hard to say.

Guest JimH
One last thought from me on today's game ... The only real disappointment to me was Arnie Munoz. His curve is less than effective in that dry Arizona air but he simply did not throw strikes. Right after the game Rooney made a very fair point/criticism ... for a guy like Munoz who did not do that well last year in Chicago, every outing and almost every pitch are very important. Guillen, Williams, and the minor league guys want to see how he does in all sorts of situations. Now, one outing is not the be all end all and Munoz was not expected to make the team, but he dug himself a hole with that effort today.
Gene Honda Civic
No worries on Munoz. He was nasty in Winter ball.

Valentin failed time and time again to get bunts down last season.
