The Critic
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Guys, this ain't going to happen, at least not now. So don't even speculate. You can leave out the "at least not now" part. It's an interesting story, but there's no way on Earth that all 30 owners would agree to sell. Plus, they believe their combined value is 5 billion dollars. I have a hard time believing that, but they do and that's the point. The story did spark some interesting conversations, such as what might happen if the owners tried "transferring" star players to teams in need of star power, "for the overall good of the league" and things like that. TheBigHurt35
QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) There are still 10,000 Hawks fans? It has enormous potential to do good, but I wonder about the competitiveness of having all the teams owned by one firm. This could just be the XFLification of Hockey. Except for the fact that the NHL is loaded with talented players and the best that the XFL could pump out were Tommy Maddox and "He Hate Me." This could be crappy news for Leafs fans, such as myself, but prying the Hawks away from that cheapskate Wirtz would be a godsend for Chicago fans. Overall, though, I think it could be better for the league as a whole, especially if they contract a few franchises.
