LowerCaseRepublican
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...up_050302224052 The eldest son of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) was plotting to overthrow his father just as US troops advanced on Baghdad in March 2003, journalist Peter Arnett claimed in Playboy Magazine. Uday Hussein, known for his ruthlessness and flashy lifestyle, had won the support of the leadership of his father's Fedayeen militia to overthrow Saddam's 35-year rule, according to an advance copy of the April edition of Playboy obtained by AFP. southsider2k5
Very interesting, but I don't think it would have changed anything. They might have moved towards the world a little more, but there still would have been the same torture and murder going on there. After reading about how the guy tortured athletes and murdered people for fun, I can't see Uday's regime being any different than Saddam's. I mean they are dicks -- just an interesting theory if true.

I mean they are dicks -- just an interesting theory if true. It is real interesting. I honestly think that Saddam is the one who tried to have him killed in the first place, so I think Uday was viewing this as payback. I'd love to see more details on this though. In reading about the 2 brothers it became clear that Qusay was the favorite and Uday was viewed as too wild and headstrong for any real power. After the 1996 assassination attempt that left him with a limp noodle Uday was said to have REALLY gone off the deep end.

And I'll bet that he was on painkillers most of the time, which probably had a lot to do with his psychological condition. Kind of like how Hitler went (even more) nuts after taking amphetamines for years. As bad as Saddam was, Uday was even worse. He was subhuman. According to a former bodyguard, Uday raped women "for sport." I'm glad that worthless piece of s*** is dead. And speaking of assholes getting theirs, what's Saddam still doing alive in a jail cell? Do we really need to waste time and money on a trial for this thug? Throw him out onto a busy street in Baghdad and let a crowd of pissed off Iraquis kill him with their bare hands.
