NUKE_CLEVELAND
QUOTE(soxhawks @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) man if he still caught he'd be an all star every year, he might even be the best offensive catcher in the game Had he played catcher all this time he'd barely be able to walk let alone run to 1st base. Chisoxfn
Remember, Konerko also had a short stint a few years back where the Sox tried him out at 3rd base. It didn't last long, but it wasn't a bad idea. The big reason he didn't catch was because he wasn't a great defensive catcher. He also had a type of disease, forget which that weakened him or I remember reading that way back when he was with the Dodgers (may not be a disease, but it was something). Of course the main reason was the Dodgers had Mike Piazza ahead of him, plus they didn't want a guy that could swing the bat like Konerko stuck behind the plate because typically it shortens your career. So unless you project to be plus defensively, there is a decent shot they'll move you. But if you ever wonder why Konerko has such a good arm for a 1st baseman, its because he caught and also did a little 3rd base.
