Miami Pro Day

Recommended Posts

Believe it or not, I'm actually pretty please with what I read.

"Gore's 40 times and his lack of size will likely make him a second-day pick, possibly in the fourth round, at the April 23-24 draft in New York."

Fourth round? Wow. That's awesome. I thought for sure he'd go around rounds 5 or 6. He's going to be a steal in those later rounds. I truly believe he could do really well here if Angelo takes him in the later rounds. He's going to be there Jerry, you need a RB...think about it.

That would allow us to draft (In order of Round):

1) WR

2) CB

3) LB

4) RB

5) OL

6) OL

7) Best Available

We don't have a third round selection.

I can't even begin to speculate at the order of position.

Here's a stab in the dark:

1) RB (Benson/Brown if not traded down)

2) CB

4) WR

5) OL

6) K

7) Best Available (QB/Defense)

Actually, the more I think about it, Angelo may look for an OLB or other defender in round 4. His recent actions (i.e. signing Muhammad, releasing Terrell, etc.) have shown he has confidence in both Gage and Wade. I know he wants another OLB somewhere in this draft, it may go there.

WR in round 4? How exactly will that improve our WR core? A WR must be taken in the 1st or 2nd and alternately, a CB/LB must be taken in the 1st or 2nd. These are our 2 biggest needs IMO.

Joe Horn, who had 1400 receiving yards and 90+ catches last year was a 5th round pick.

Donald Driver, who had 84 catches, 1200 yards, and 9 TD's, was a 7th round pick.

Drew Bennett, who had 80 catches and 1247 yards last year, was undrafted.

Not that these guys are everywhere and are just plain as day, because if they were, they'd be first or second round picks. Larry Brackins, Matt Jones, Vincent Jackson, Tab Perry, Roydell Williams, Dante Ridgeway, Steve Savoy, Craphonso Thorpe, Brandon Jones....all could be solid receivers in the NFL someday if they pan out. Some are projects that will likely be boom or bust, and some are guys that will catch a few balls and will give you a few yards every year, but never anything spectacular. It's a matter of good scouting and good draft management.
