The Bones
Illinois, though if they meet in the tournament I think it would be a very tough game for Illinois. Sean May was a beast down low yesterday.
southsider2k5
UNC is good, but there is no doubt Illinois should be #1.
SoxFan1
Gotta be Illinois....they lost 1 f***ing game!
WilliamTell
Illinois should be. They had an off day and lost by only 1, they stay top dogs.
SnB
UNC lost to santa clara, i believe illinois can lose to osu and still be no.
IlliniKrush
If you actually believe Illinois shouldn't be #1 i'd like some reasoning. My guess is those votes are just Illini haters with no real reason.
WHarris1
Illini are #1 but no unanimous in the AP. http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee...es/11074208.htm
SleepyWhiteSox
That tallahassee paper sucks. I disliked even looking at it when I was at fsu. Hypothetical: If it's Ill-UNC, how do they stop May?
Heads22
I don't think that Illinois is necessarily the best team out there but they are #1. They should be too unless they collapse in the Big Ten tourney.
IlliniKrush
Well for one you can't stop him, you have to try to contain him. Empty everyone off the bench to play physical with him, and try to deny him the ball to begin with. Then double him up if he gets the ball. It won't be easy, it'd be a matchup from hell. Texsox
Funny if this was college football, they would drop because they lost at the end of the year. They are still the best team I've seen and deserve the #1 spot and a stay at home berth in the NCAA. Even if they lose a game in the Big 10 tourny. BTW, this was not a great year for Big 10 basketball. They are probably the 5 or 6 best b-ball conference this year, yet have a great chance of winning it all. We also didn't seem to have a problem with Turiaff. Not saying he's May's calbier, but it's not like big men have field days on us every time out. IlliniKrush
See: Ohio St, Mizzou... I know we were fine against Turiaf, hopefully we can figure out how to bring that defense back. He was also on a bad ankle though
Palehosefan
Honestly, Nick Smith would give Sean alot of problems in the post. Luke Schenser with his 7' size gives Sean some problems, and Luke is softer than a Koala bear. It would be a hell of a matchup, I hope it happens in the championship game, college basketball couldn't ask for more.
IlliniKrush
Nick Smith = 10X softer than Luke Dee would give May more problems.

He did have a few nice strips of Dials. Seriously May could just back down Luke without any effort.
fathom
Schenscher is one of the most underrated defensive players in college basketball. He does a great job at getting in the other players way. He doesn't block a lot of shots, but he's very fundamentally sound at staying close to the guy he's defending.

Thats funny because every GT fan I talk too says hes softer than Charmin.
He_Gawn
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) That tallahassee paper sucks. I disliked even looking at it when I was at fsu. Hypothetical: If it's Ill-UNC, how do they stop May? I think Indiana was the only team all year that shut his ass down. If teams are playing him, better watch the UNC vs IU game. I dont even think he had 5 points.
WHarris1
He had 8 but no biggie. Still shutdown.
