Overbay is going to cost a ton of prospects the way he is hitting right now. If he keeps this up leading up to the deadline, I would think it will take at least two primo prospects or a decent player off the major league roster, possibly another prospect too.

The Phillies reportedly want to package Placido Polanco with first basemen Ryan Howard, and the Dodgers appear to be interested.

They are still reeling over not landing Adrian Beltre in the off season and some Dodgers have said they want Polanco because he's a positive force in the locker room, along with being a better option at third than anyone they currently have. We'll see. May. 10 - 8:48 am et

Wow, What are the Phillies looking for?  Those two would fit on the Sox perfectly.

That's the exact thought that went through my mind when I read it.

Morgan Ensberg (3B) of the Houston Astros hit 3 HR vs. the Giants tonight. His first was a 3-run shot in the 1st, and he added 2 more solo HRs, one in the 5th and his third in the 7th.

When my 3B went down this week, I had 2 or 3 3B to decide between to replace him, and I chose Ensberg.

Umm, Rolen who??? ;)

Where was this production last year? I traded Aramis Rameriez for Ensberg last year in ST in my fantasy league. Keep in mind Ensberg had ZERO home runs in the first half last year and Aramis had a career year. Let's just say my team wasn't too good.

OUCH! Yea I remember hearing all about Ramirez last year, he was a beast.

Ensberg definitely had a drop off last year compared to 2003. This year they're counting on him a lot more - Bags is down and Berkman just came back and is struggling. They even have Biggio batting third! Morgan's been hitting in the 5 or 6 spot lately, and if Lance keeps struggling I can see Ensberg taking the cleanup spot for a while.

With Tavaras putting together a nice rookie season, they have the luxury of moving Biggio down in the order. With Willy leading off and Palmeiro second, Biggio, Berkman, and Ensberg makes a nice set of hitters to drive in runs.

The only problem is, Biggio has hit all his HR in Houston. Ensberg is pretty good on the road though, just a slight drop off from playing at home. We'll see how long it takes for Berkman to regain his power and consistency.

"Karsay agrees to terms with Rangers

Reliever expected to start with Double-A team"

http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ne...t=.jsp&c_id=tex

MINNEAPOLIS -- In an effort to upgrade a bullpen which has been hit hard by injuries to Frank Francisco and Carlos Almanzar, the Rangers are bringing veteran Steve Karsay into their organization.

Karsay, who was recently released by the Yankees, has decided to sign with the Rangers. He had also been courted over the last few days by the Cubs, Cardinals and Giants.

Rangers spokesman Gregg Elkin confirmed the Karsay deal after the Rangers' 5-2 loss to Minnesota on Sunday. "We've agreed to terms," Elkin said.

Karsay is expected to join the Rangers in Chicago on Monday and work for a couple of days with pitching coach Orel Hershiser and the Rangers' staff. He is then expected to be sent to Double-A Frisco and would eventually be added to the Major League roster if he shows sufficient progress in the Texas League.

The Rangers will only be required to pay Karsay the Major League minimum, with the Yankees still on the hook for the bulk of his contract.

THe Flubs wanted him. HAHA! No bullpen help for you! But only MLB minimum for Karsay? I would have taken a flier on him if it would have meant Cotts getting sent packing. :crying

"Phillies send Byrd to D.C. for Chavez

GM said club plans to keep speedy outfielder in big leagues"

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...t=.jsp&c_id=phi

PHILADELPHIA -- Marlon Byrd questioned his future with the Phillies late in Spring Training, and the organization gave him an answer on Saturday.

Philadelphia shipped Byrd to the Washington Nationals for Endy Chavez in a classic change-of-scenery trade for both players.

True, Karsay is a righty while Cotts is a lefty but does it matter? Cotts has actually been much worse against lefties this season.

True, but it's still a pretty small sample size. Plus, the Sox are most likely going to have 2 lefties in their pen anyways.
