Yeah, and when Cotts sucks again by putting the first batter he faces on base via a walk, hit, or HBP, I bet you won't be saying a word.

No, see, that's the thing -- I'll be there when he sucks, I'll be there when he's good.

Unlike you -- case in point, the Oakland series -- where Ozuna makes an error, and surprise surprise, you're nowhere to be found, yet Harris makes an error/strikes out, and it's a ripfest. It's easy to back a guy when things are going good...

And, I don't think I'll be making a thread entitled "Cotts' Hustle" even though he's one of the hardest working pitchers on the staff... According to Rooney/Farmer/Hawk.

Hardest working at what -- putting the leadoff man on base?

"Notes: Kolb loses job as closer

Cox moves struggling right-hander to middle relief role"

http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/n...t=.jsp&c_id=atl

SAN DIEGO -- Braves manager Bobby Cox stuck with Dan Kolb as long as he could. But the veteran skipper has decided it's time to move the struggling closer into a middle relief role and utilize a closer-by-committee system.

Cox made his decision after Kolb wasted John Smoltz's strong eight-inning effort against the Padres on Tuesday night. He met with Kolb on before Wednesday afternoon's game and informed him that he was being removed from his closing duties.

"I'm going to use him in the middle somewhere for a few outings and see how it goes there," said Cox, who has seen Kolb issue 16 walks and post a 6.48 ERA in 19 appearances this year.

Cox said he is planning to use matchups to determine who he utilizes in the closer's role. But it's believed that Adam Bernero will receive a majority of those opportunities over the coming days.

Abreu is on f***ing fire, just hit a 3 run dong. 9th homer in last 10 games, that's amazing.

Phillies losing 8-3 though and Philly fans suck. They just keep booing and booing, the ESPN announcers are ripping them.

Ed Wade is a goner. Charlie Manuel is already in serious trouble even though he's been on the job for what a month and a half. That franchise is in serious trouble. No way they'd trade Abreu though, he's their best player, without a shadow of a doubt, and they have to build around him. Making stupid moves like Endy Chavez for Marlon Byrd won't help either.

Yet another team that proves you can spend all of the money in the world, and it don't make a damned bit of difference.

"Bere announces retirement

Right-hander was an All-Star in 1994"

http://minorleaguebaseball.com/app/news/ar..._milb&fext=.jsp

Buffalo Bisons right-hander Jason Bere, a former American League All-Star, announced his retirement Thursday.

Bere, 33, joined the Bisons from extended Spring Training on May 8 and won his first start of the season later that day. But he surrendered 15 runs over eight innings in his next two appearances and was 1-1 with a 13.15 ERA this season.

Bothered by shoulder and elbow injuries throughout a 15-year professional career, Bere had a 71-65 record in 203 Major League starts for the White Sox, Reds, Brewers, Cubs and Indians. He owns a 32-31 Minor League record compiled in the Gulf Coast, Midwest, Florida State, Southern, Pacific Coast, International and Eastern leagues.

He won at least 11 games four times, most recently in 2001, when he was 11-11 with a 4.31 ERA for the Cubs. The Massachusetts native was runner-up in A.L. Rookie of the Year voting in 1993, when he was 12-5 with a 3.47 ERA for the White Sox. The following season, he made his lone All-Star appearance, finishing 12-2 with a 3.81 ERA.

In April 2004, Bere underwent elbow surgery. He came back late in the season and made two starts totaling 5 2/3 innings for the Double-A Akron Aeros.

That's too bad.  He was going to be a stud before his arm got torn up.

Yes he was. I've never had anyone remind me so much of another pretty decent pitcher as a young Jason Bere did. That other pitcher ... Tom Seaver.

I heard on the radio this morning that Koskie broke his thumb.

Yep...

"Koskie breaks thumb in Jays' loss"

http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story.asp?ID=125361&hubName=mlb

MINNEAPOLIS (CP) - Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Corey Koskie will miss four-to-six weeks after breaking his right thumb during Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
Koskie, in the lineup as the Blue Jays' designated hitter, was hurt sliding into second base in the second inning. The native of Anola, Man., was taken to a hospital for X-rays, which revealed the fracture.

Koskie singled and tagged up on a fly out to centre field by Vernon Wells in the second inning, but Torii Hunter threw him out trying to advance. Koskie collided with second baseman Luis Rivas as he slid into the bag.

It's good to see that not all prospects that the Twinkies bring up are instant studs. It looks like Juan "No Bat" Castro will be the Twins' starting SS now...

"Notes: Bartlett optioned to Rochester

Rodriguez called up to replace struggling shortstop"

http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=min

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins decided Thursday to option shortstop Jason Bartlett to Triple-A Rochester after the rookie battled lately with confidence issues.

Middle infielder Luis Rodriguez was called up from Rochester to replace Bartlett. He will be available to play Friday.

After winning the shortstop job in a four-way battle during Spring Training, Bartlett started out hot before steadily declining once opposing pitchers started making adjustments. He batted .242 in 26 games this season and also made some defensive mistakes in the field.

"We talked about him getting back to being the offensive player he is," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He tried to do little things up here, shoot the ball the other way, maybe a little too much. We really believe Bart will be a very good offensive player in the big leagues."

As he packed up his belongings from his locker, Bartlett understood the need for the move.

"Offensively, I lost my approach," Bartlett said. "I lost my swing. I was trying to overcome the scouting reports. I kind of lost everything. I have to go back and find it."

Juan Castro assumed Bartlett's starting role last weekend. Although Castro lacks offensive strengths, Gardenhire liked how the defensive-minded veteran solidified his young infield.

"He's not just making plays, but helping the other guys out," Gardenhire said. "That's what we kind of need right now, because we are a little unsettled."

The organization did not want Bartlett to sit on the bench watching Castro play. The 25-year-old will get everyday at-bats at Rochester.

"If I go down there and play every day, hopefully it won't take very long if I'm swinging well," Bartlett said.
