-Fish Fan-
Marlins fried the Cubbies last night, 9-1. Dontrelle's record moves up to 11-2. If he doesn't start the All-Star game, I'm gonna be so pissed off. Altough, Pedro is having a hell of a season also. Dontrelle went 2-3 with an RBI. The Marlins just blew the Cubs out of the water at Wrigley. We've got Beckett on the mound tonight and hopefully he'll be able to do the same thing Willis did. Burnett gave up 5 runs before being pulled. 5 run seventh for the Cubbies. Guess the "Lets Get Some Runs" worked for once, assuming someone was smart enough to throw that onto the end of Take me out to the ballgame. I'd rather talk about them at the end of the season, but I'll take the shots.

I said Chavez was overrated and overpaid based on his career numbers. Remember the "never having a season with an OPS of .900 despite being paid like a slugger" argument? :rolly Speaking of Chavez: Eric Chavez was the DH for the third straight day in order to rest his sore throwing shoulder. He will be back in the field Friday against Philadelphia. Chavez said he would be open to offseason surgery on the shoulder if doctors determine that's the best option. He's been getting treatment on the shoulder for his entire career. "I'm sick of the maintenance on it," he said. "This year, it's come to a head. It's frustrating. It's tough for me to make throws." DBAHO
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 04:44 AM) Nice try. I said Chavez was overrated and overpaid based on his career numbers. Remember the "never having a season with an OPS of .900 despite being paid like a slugger" argument? :rolly Speaking of Chavez: Playing half of your games at Oakland wouldn't help anybody's OPS much at all. There's other factors for Chavez making what he's making. 1) He's a gold glover 2) He's the team's leader Would you say Chavez is the most overpaid for his position with his stats though? Adrian Beltre - (5 years, $63 million) .244/.279/.361 Mike Lowell - (making something like $7,500,000) - .237/.289/.

DBAHO
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) The Coliseum isn't a hitter's park? Go figure! :headshake Actually, this is pretty funny (and weird at the same time), but the Coliseum is the 4th highest scoring ballpark in the league at the moment, at .218 runs above average. However, it's one of the worst parks for homers, walks and triples. Don't forget the A's rotation outside of Rich Harden (who's been injured) has hardly been stellar either. DBAHO
And Jabroni, to clear up the Shea Hillenbrand thing, when you said he was a free agent after this season; The Blue Jays do not expect to trade Shea Hillenbrand. ''We're not trading Hillenbrand, we like him,'' general manager J.P. Ricciardi said. ''We've got him for another year, we have arbitration rights with him. I'm not going to trade him, no. He's everything we should be.'' Jun. 17 - 10:46 am et

I can't believe that he's still pitching in the big leagues right now. He's like Thriller was last year. Everyone knows he's done, but the manager keeps running him out there.
