BuehrleTheAce
QUOTE(soxhawks @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) i get- buerhle, craig monroe lose- harden, olivo IMO .... in a FREAKIN' HEARTBEAT! While both Monroe and Olivo are FAs in my league, the Buehrle/Harden swap is even, if not leaning in favor of Mark. Comparing Monroe to Olivo, Monroe blows Mig's numbers out of the water, but Mig has a great upside. I guess it depends if you can afford to lose a starting catcher to pick up one more OF. witesoxfan
It is essentially Buehrle for Harden, since both Monroe and Olivo should be FA's. There are a ton of OF'ers out there who are probably better then Monroe, and the same can be said for Olivo and catchers too. I actually am not sure about the actual deal itself. Harden strikes out more per 9 then Buehrle, but tends to walk more, thus having a worse K/BB, worse WHIP, and fewer IP, thus fewer chances to win games. I think you probably should...since it probably won't be hard to replace Olivo's .233 13 40 .725(and his .200 6 14 .648 with Seattle)...and Buehrle is probably superior to Harden. I would say, in the end, no matter the advice you are given, it is a judgement call. There is a chance that Harden could put up 17 wins and an ERA in the 3.50 or lower range with 7-8 K's per 9...and there is the chance he would put up 12 wins, a 4.00 ERA, and the same amount of K's per 9. Mark almost assuredly will be in the middle of those 2 set of numbers.
GoodAsGould
idonno many people consider Harden to break out this year and be a cy young contender but if you want the sure thing go with Buerhle

witesoxfan
QUOTE(soxhawks @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) i should also mention it is an al only league LOL...yeah, that would have been nice to know ahead of time. It depends on if you need help in the OF/have a good backup catcher(or have a player that is solid that is also catcher eligible...though I'm not sure who that would be)...if you do have a good backup catcher that will put up decent numbers, make the deal...if not, you need to think pretty hard about the deal, especially if you don't need a little bit of power help in the outfield.
