johndyce
man, what a great pickup by KW. once wright comes back and/or garland gets it going, our rotation has to be second in the AL. Also, what kind of stuff does he throw? I havent got to watch him yet
greg775
I haven't gotten to see him yet either but it sounds like he's been awesome. How'd we get this guy and what is his best pitch?? We are on a roll as a team. Nice.
baggio202
in his next start loaiza gets to make his debut against a real major league team
1549
fastball touches 95, good breaking stuff. Noone has ever questioned his stuff, he has just always been to damn inconsistent...win one lose one win one lose won...maybe this is the year he puts it all together
LowerCaseRepublican
in his next start loaiza gets to make his debut against a real major league team Yes, as much as I want to praise Esteban for being an excellent pitcher and 2 very excellent outings, I am reserved about it because it was the Tigers. Soxfest
Even though it is the Tigers, i am excited about him in rotation.
DonkeyKongerko
Esteban developed a changeup this offseason. This has added a new dimension to his pitching game where normally people were able to sit on his fastball I think. Also he pitched in Texas which tends to play like a bandbox. I always thought Loaiza had good stuff but this changeup allows him to have dominant outings going 3-4 times through a batting order without getting lit up. mac9001
Esteban lost some of his velocity, his fastball now tops out at about 91-92 (mixes speeds well), but he's developed a pretty damn good changeup. He also throws a slider that hit 84-86 mph. So far he's show unbelievable control, but it's doubtful he can keep it up. With the Sox's offense and the fact that he's been a good vs. other AL central teams means he could be a 15 game winner.
Jim Fainter
Loaiza might be a one year wonder for us. I believe that the option we have for next year is at a pretty hefty price -- $ 3 Million or so. Can't remember for sure. If he wins 15 or so this year, he will present an interesting dilemma to the brass.
Guest hotsoxchick1
if wright does need to go down for surgery at any point i dont see any dilema here... dump wright and keep loz......hes awesome..........
Soxfest
3 million is cheap for 04 , he made 6.5 million last year.
JoshPR
Jerry Manuel is a Mule I swear. You got a guy pitching a 2 hit shutout with a 5-0 lead and he doesn't let him finish. And even more dumb he brings in Koch!! WHY!! Do you want to over use him??? If your going to take out Loaiza, Bring in Wunsch or White or Somebody who hasn't pitched ina few days and keep them sharp... MANUEL!!!! dUH!!! mac9001
Koch pitches better when he's "over used", i hate Manuel, but anyone who's seen Koch pitch in the past knows you have to give him a lot of innings.

JoshPR
Rios is a good Hitter if given the At Bats. He hustles and plays hard too. I'm kinda growing sick of waiting for Lee

U gotta be kidding. Loaiza is doin well but he's 31 or 32. Wright is 24 and has nothing but upside. In 3 or 4 years Loaiza will be outta the league and Wright will be a consistent 15-20 gm winner.....

greg775
I know what you mean bout Detroit, but hey I'm glad we're taking care of business against the crap teams. We can't get swept by the Royals next time.
