ottawa_sox
QUOTE(Yoda @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) No doubt he is dominating opposing hitters here in Spring Training. Went 6 innings allowing 2 unearned runs! Not to mention that he allowed his first walk of the Spring Training. He’s just like Buehrle, IMO. He knows how to throw strikes and gets outs right away. We got a look at how he pitches out of jams this afternoon and he does a good job of it. I’m hoping we can see him in our rotation for next season. The walk that he gave up was to Figgins and the only reason it went to a 3 ball count was because the umpire completely blew a 1 ball 2 strike curve that caught all of the plate. It was such a nice curve that I thing the ump was as frozen as Chone. Edited March 15, 2005 by ottawa_sox

Stoney made a funny comment saying if that pitch wasn't called a strike when he was on the mound his career would of lasted half an inning. It's so sweet to see a Sox pitcher control the the oppostion like that. And there was nothing gimicky about it. It not like he has something that the opposition is going to catch onto. Just straight command, composure and an unnatural amount of intuitiveness using the standard 4-seam, curve and changeup.

witesoxfan
I hate to even think of this now, because it is so far away...but if/when we make the playoffs, is that not like having Josh Beckett circa 2003 in your rotation for the stretch run? Having that young stud just get hotter then hell and lead your team a long ways? Personally...I do think Contreras could be either in the bullpen or completely gone by midseason...if they can't fix him and make him a decent pitcher, I expect a salary dump of some type(perhaps similar to the deal we made last year, only this time we would be getting the Loaiza), and for BMac to be put into the rotation. We still have the depth pitching wise, because we trade Contreras for the swing man type. I know one thing...BMac excites the hell out of me. Having him in our system is just simply awesome. YASNY
The game they were talking about next with that Stone will do is a D'Backs - Cubs game.
YASNY
BMac will make an appearence before the break, I believe. And once he shows up, that's it. He'll take someone's spot in the rotation. One thing this impressive ST showing by BMac does, is that it gives Ozzie an ace in the hole, to twist a phrase, to use on Garland and Contreras. When he tells Garland to quit nibbling and attack hitter or Contreras to use his heater, and these guys don't listen he can just remind him we have this "kid" ready and waiting in Charlotte.
