Steve Bartman's my idol
With B-Mac pitching the way he is, why don't we trade Garland and Crede, or Contreras and Crede for a decent 3B?
Jabroni
With B-Mac pitching the way he is, why don't we trade Garland and Crede, or Contreras and Crede for a decent 3B? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We finally have 6 guys that can start. Why would we want to trade Garland now? If El Duque or someone else in the rotation gets injured, we can just throw B-Mac in there. We need to trade Willie and/or Borchard for a 3rd baseman. aboz56
We're not going to trade a relatively cheap starter who gives you 200 IP (Garland) for a 3B when we used our first rounder last season on Josh Fields. If anything, if Crede struggles, you'll see Valdez/Uribe play 3B from time to time in place of Crede until they feel Fields deserves a shot. I for one don't mind having Crede hit 8th/9th, as long as his glove is solid, I think he can hit .255/.260 with decent power (20 HR) and decent run production (60-70 RBI). For a 8th/9th hitter, that is fine with me.
WHarris1
Crede IS a decent 3B. Plays good defense, hits 20 bombs, from the 8-9 spot that's very decent.

Jabroni
Keep dreamin'... :rolly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why do you say that? Mackowiak isn't a stud or anything and the Pirates need a power-hitting outfielder. They could be the team that would take a flier on Borchard. Borchard and Willie for Mackowiak is not an unreasonable trade.
WHarris1
Just a hunch, the phone isn't ringing off the hook with teams inquiring about Borchard as their power hitting OFer.
